hEMO T0: Parks and Recreati o ssioners
FROM: Director Anderson
` DATE: March 20, 1979
RE: Silver View Park Acquisiticn
Enclosed is a copy of a tetter mailed to 14r. Dan Engelsma, Vica President,
Kraus/Mderson which has been our last correspondence regarding the Silver
View Park land acquisition. At this point we have not contacted nor have
we heard from Kraus/Anderson in regards to this issue.
The state called the other day and informed us that the contract for funding
along with the check for acquisition will be delivermd to the City by mid-April.
Basically staff has been waiting to receive the final grant monies before any
formal negotiations are recpened with Kraus/Anderson.
Staff still feels that the following p3ckage could hest benefit the City and
developer:
7. Re-locate the park site up *,o Conty Road I and Silver Lake Road.
2. Trade the City's existing 16.5 acres for an equal amount of land
directly north.
3. Direct CiLy Attarney hkyers to make an offer on behalf of the City
for $10,006/acre which wou7d purchase 12.8 acres.
4. Comnence development of the 28.8 acres of park land with the 1979
L.A.W.C.O.N. Phase i Development Grant.
5. Recomnend to the Council that the City dertend 10% land dedication of
park land as their share of the Park dedication fund. This would in
turn potentialy bring the City an additional 70 acres for a total park
site of 38.8 acres.
Staff's first priority before we follow the aforementioned process would
sti11 be to work out total package agreement with Kraus/Rnderson to ensure a
high quality development.
