t MINUTES OF THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION • CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW COUNTY OF RAMSEY STATE OF MINNESOTA August 26 , 1982 • Mounds View City Hall Council Chambers 6:30 p.m. CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Wayne Burmeister at 6: 36 p.m. ROLL CALL: Commissioners present: Chairperson Wayne Burmeister, Commissioners Marilynne Dennehy, Donna Bowman, Ed Letendre, Frank Silvis , Wayne Weflin and Cindy Wermager. Councilmembers present: Councilmember Bill Doty Staff Present: Director Bruce Anderson, Program Supervisor Saarion APPROVAL OF MINUTES: A motion was made by Commissioner Silvis and seconded by Commis- sioner Bowman to approve the July 22, 1982 Park Commission Meeting minutes as presented by staff. Motion was adopted unanimously. 7 ayes • 0 nayes CHAIRMAN'S REPORT: Chairperson Wayne Burmeister indicated that he had viewed the new Lambert Park Shelter Building and felt that the building could work quite well , and met our initial design and finan- cial conraints. He questioned whether or not the Lexon window could stand up to the potential vandalism that it may receive and staff indicated that he felt that it was quite durable. Commissioner Burmeister also questioned the status of the old buildings. Staff indicated that they had all been removed except for Hillview which was scheduled for removal during the coming weeks. Park and Recreation Director Anderson indicated that he had read an ad in the paper which stated that used classroom buildings were available for sale between $5,000 and $6,000 in the Anoka School District. After outlining the type of building and potential uses of the building, the Park Commission directed staff to personally view the buildings with one of the councilmembers to determine the feasibility of using them as park shelter buildings. Staff concurred and stated that he would set up a meeting with Councilmember Doty in the next week. COUNCILMEMBER'S REPORT: Councilmember Doty indicated that he had no report at this time. VISITOR'S PRESENTATION: Visitor Marilyn Eibs attended the Park Commission meeting and indicated that she was representing the pre-school program at • Abiding Savior Lutheran Church and desired to have some of the playground equipment from Red Oak Elementary School be donated to the pre-school program at the church . Staff then distributed a memo outlining the status of the equipment at Red Oak and re- quested Park Commission action on this issue.
