t <br /> MINUTES OF THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE <br /> PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br /> • CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br /> COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> August 26 , 1982 <br /> • Mounds View City Hall <br /> Council Chambers <br /> 6:30 p.m. <br /> CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Wayne Burmeister at <br /> 6: 36 p.m. <br /> ROLL CALL: Commissioners present: Chairperson Wayne Burmeister, Commissioners <br /> Marilynne Dennehy, Donna Bowman, Ed Letendre, Frank Silvis , Wayne <br /> Weflin and Cindy Wermager. <br /> Councilmembers present: Councilmember Bill Doty <br /> Staff Present: Director Bruce Anderson, Program Supervisor Saarion <br /> APPROVAL OF MINUTES: A motion was made by Commissioner Silvis and seconded by Commis- <br /> sioner Bowman to approve the July 22, 1982 Park Commission Meeting <br /> minutes as presented by staff. Motion was adopted unanimously. <br /> 7 ayes <br /> • 0 nayes <br /> CHAIRMAN'S REPORT: Chairperson Wayne Burmeister indicated that he had viewed the <br /> new Lambert Park Shelter Building and felt that the building <br /> could work quite well , and met our initial design and finan- <br /> cial conraints. He questioned whether or not the Lexon window <br /> could stand up to the potential vandalism that it may receive <br /> and staff indicated that he felt that it was quite durable. <br /> Commissioner Burmeister also questioned the status of the old <br /> buildings. Staff indicated that they had all been removed <br /> except for Hillview which was scheduled for removal during the <br /> coming weeks. Park and Recreation Director Anderson indicated <br /> that he had read an ad in the paper which stated that used <br /> classroom buildings were available for sale between $5,000 and <br /> $6,000 in the Anoka School District. After outlining the type <br /> of building and potential uses of the building, the Park <br /> Commission directed staff to personally view the buildings with <br /> one of the councilmembers to determine the feasibility of using <br /> them as park shelter buildings. Staff concurred and stated that <br /> he would set up a meeting with Councilmember Doty in the next <br /> week. <br /> COUNCILMEMBER'S REPORT: Councilmember Doty indicated that he had no report at this time. <br /> VISITOR'S PRESENTATION: Visitor Marilyn Eibs attended the Park Commission meeting and <br /> indicated that she was representing the pre-school program at <br /> • Abiding Savior Lutheran Church and desired to have some of the <br /> playground equipment from Red Oak Elementary School be donated <br /> to the pre-school program at the church . Staff then distributed <br /> a memo outlining the status of the equipment at Red Oak and re- <br /> quested Park Commission action on this issue. <br />
