The RFP outlined a specific <br />scope of services which would provide trie <br />Park and Recreation Commission a better han- <br />dle on comparing firms rather than making an <br />open end process. <br />Staff indicated that in addition to the final <br />hid proposal process, he felt that the Park <br />Commission should be involved in interviewiny <br />the finalists, following the review of pro- <br />posals, With the final selection being made <br />at a sp�cial meeting. A proposed time line <br />was reviewed by staff with proposals to .be <br />returned by late Novembet and a firm selected <br />in early December. Chairperson indicated <br />that time is of the essence in that due to <br />the hydrolics and special engineering re- <br />quired for this project, a firm with some <br />engineering background would be of great help <br />He further indicated that a special meeting <br />should be established to review the RFPs once <br />that are submitted. A motion was then made <br />by Commissioner Bowman, seconded by Commis- <br />sioa Long to direct staff to forward request <br />to solicite proposals from area engineering <br />and landscape architect consultants based on <br />the scope of services provided and that a <br />special Park Commission meeting be estab- <br />li�hed in December to review and interview <br />the finalists. The motion passed unanimous- <br />ly, 4 ayes, 0 nays. <br />COMPOST PROGRAM UPDATE Staff distributed a memo of the City°s com- <br />post program which commenced operation for <br />the fall season on October 17, 1984. Staff <br />indicated that the modifications suggested by <br />the Park Commission to add a second for a <br />straight drive-thru, has been extremely posi- <br />;�� t ive and enabl ing the traf f ic to f low througP� <br />the site with back-ups at a minimum. <br />0 <br />
