REPORT"FROM COMMIS- <br />SIONERS WUORI, LONG <br />AND SILVIS REGARDING <br />`MRPA PARK COMMISSION <br />-2- <br />Aquatics Supervisor Rechtzigel stated he is <br />goal is`to provide a safe aqua= <br />t for the Cities of Mounds View <br />Commissioner Silvis distributed a copy of the <br />MRPA Legislative Platform and sugqested that <br />Commissioners get to know there legislators <br />end urge them to promote the �1RPA Legislative <br />Platform and other park and recreation relat- <br />ed issues. Commissioner Wuori added that the <br />program was good but that they tried to cover <br />too many issues in a short time. Commission- <br />er Long stated that the P1I�PA wQUld like to <br />conduct these joint commission meetings on a <br />regular basis. <br />Commissioner Silvis asked if. the Mounds View <br />Park and Recreation Commission was a member <br />o£ MRPA. Director Anderson stated that the <br />Commission members were not members of MRPA. <br />Commissioner Wuori stated that she would be <br />in favor of joining the P1RPA and Director <br />Anderson said he would look into the possi- <br />bility. <br />SUMMER RECREATION Director Anderson asked if all the Commis- <br />PROGRAM sioners had rec�i�-ad the most recent bro- <br />chures and stawe: that the Post Office had <br />recently changed some of the routes in htounds <br />View without notif�ring the City offices so we <br />were experiencing some diEficulties in the <br />newsletter deliveries. <br />Director Anderson briefly discussed some of <br />the programs. stating that adult softball <br />will be starting the week of t•tay 5. He <br />added that many of our past years programs <br />such as "Butterflies are Free", Summer Play- <br />centers, and the Puppet Wagon, would be con- <br />tinuing this year. NE��r programs offered this <br />summer are Mini-soccer and a Gym and 5wim <br />Program. in addition to the increased senior <br />citi�ens programs such as "Sr. Adventures" <br />Out to Lunch" Club. 500 and Cribbage Clubs. <br />Commissioner Wuori suggested that we use the <br />amphitheater for more events than just the <br />"Arts in the Parks". Some oE her suggestions <br />were local choir con�erts, and summer school <br />orchestra and band performances. <br />�``'' <br />
