_ <br />, -3- <br />Commissioner Wuori asked' why the Park and <br />Recreation Department does not offer a bike <br />� registration program. Director Anderson <br />� stated that by law, the bike registrations <br />were to be done at the bike shops because the <br />State would have a better control. Commis- <br />sioner Wuori suggested that we canduct a <br />"Bike Registration Day" by bringing in a <br />Deputy Registar and incorporate a bike safety <br />class at the same time. Commissfoner <br />Letendre suggested that we also distribute <br />reflective tape to kids to use on their <br />bikes. Direetor Anderson stated that even <br />though i�. was too late to plan a bike regis- <br />tration day at this time, we could ati least <br />put out a flyer an bike safety and include <br />reflector tape. <br />REVIEW OF LEISURE Director Anderson briefly discussed the <br />INDUSTRY DIGEST SHEETS recent subscription to the Leisure Industry <br />Digest, explaining that it would be distri- <br />buted each month. <br />DISCU5SI�N OF PARK <br />COMMISSION TOUR <br />1986 L.A.W.C.O.N. <br />°`"RANT REQUEST <br />Staff went over the agenda for the May 3 park <br />tour of Greenfield, Random and Silver View <br />Parks. <br />Staff stated ;.'��at were three prelimin- <br />ary grants submitted for consideration. The <br />first was for Fhase II improvements to Silver <br />View Park as follows: <br />1. E'our lighted tennis courts <br />2. Paved parking lot <br />3. Completion of trail loop <br />4. eridge construction over narrows of pond <br />The second grant application was for the con- <br />struction of a boat launch at Spring Lake and <br />the third grant ap�].ication was far upgrading <br />the athletic facility at Silver View Park <br />including lights and turf establishment. <br />SILVER VIEW PARK <br />HOMEOWNE�t ENCROACHMENT Staff indicated that we were currQntly exper- <br />iencing problems at Silver View Park with <br />residents on the southside of the park <br />encroaching on park property. He said that <br />he had met with a resident on April 30, 1986 <br />who had requssted permission to remove trees <br />and brush behind his property. At that time, <br />he noticed that many of the residents abut- <br />ting the park property had cleared away brush <br />and some had sodded all the way down to the <br />lake. � <br />�...� <br />
