Up to 40% <br /> of the value of commercial and industrial property in Mounds View is sent to what is called the <br /> Fiscal Disparities tax base "pool of value". The goals and policies focus on business development and redevelopment but <br /> are linked to other chapters of this Comprehensive Plan. Land use, housing, transportation and <br /> public amenities also impact the City's ability to retain its economic base and to attract development. <br /> Business Development Goal: Retention <br /> In light of the increasing mobility of businesses, Mounds View will focus on retaining existing <br /> businesses and industries in the city. In some cases,the City may decide to help businesses to create <br /> circumstances where they can expand to meet their customers'needs and/or their own desire to grow <br /> and prosper. <br /> Retention Policies <br /> • Enhance business communication efforts through evaluation of existing programs. <br /> • Focus business retention efforts on businesses that have been identified as having the <br /> greatest impact for future growth and development by continuing informal business <br /> retention visits and site tours. <br /> • Maintain and support open communication between the city and the business community <br /> in acknowledgement of their value and be in a position to address concerns or meet <br /> • expectations. <br />
