<br />e. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />J' <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2516 <br /> <br />CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE MOUNDS VIEW LIONS CLUB FOR THEIR <br />EFFORTS IN PROVIDING A PICNIC SHELTER TO THE CITY OF MOUNDS <br />VIEW, ACCEPTING THE DONATION OF $75,000 FROM THE LIONS FOR <br />CONSTRUCTION OF A SHELTER IN SILVER VIEW PARK AND <br />ESTABLISHING POLICY <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Mounds View Lions Club is an active <br />civic organization within the City of Mounds View which has <br />generously made many contributions to the City of Mounds <br />View and its residents such as equipment used by the Police <br />Department and fireworks displays at the Annual Festival In <br />The Park; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Mounds View Lions Club in their dedica- <br />tion to the City have joined the City of Mounds View in <br />submitting a proposal to the Celebrate MN 1990 Grant Program <br />in December of 1988 in the amount of $16,538 to build a <br />picnic shelter in Silver View Park; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the formal commitment of the Lions Club to <br />the December 1988 grant proposal was $7,200 in volunteer man <br />hours to build the shelter with the remaining costs to be <br />funded through a grant award to the City and City money; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Mounds View was awarded and <br />formally accepted on April 10, 1989 a Celebrate MN 1990 <br />Grant in the amount of $4,000 to build a shelter in Silver <br />View Park; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Mounds View Lions Club charitable <br />gambling receipts far exceeded anticipated amounts and the <br />Club needed to commit the money toa charitable project <br />before July 1, 1989 and in a letter to the City from the <br />Lions Club president the Lions formally committed $75,000 <br />for the construction of a picnic shelter in Silver View <br />Park; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Lions Club assigned a subcommittee of <br />the Club to be solely responsible for the design, <br />construction and bidding of the picnic shelter project which <br />was presented for the first time to a joint meeting of the <br />City Council and Parks and Recreation Commission on June 12; <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the presentation of the proposed picnic <br />shelter included a request of the City for installation of <br />water, sewer, and electricity to the site at the estimated <br />cost of $32,173 to the City which brings the estimated total <br />cost of the shelter to $107,173; and <br />
