• <br />POSITION DESCRIPTION <br />Position Title: Lead Utility Worker <br />Department: Public Works <br />Accountable To: Public Works Director, Public Works Supervisor <br />Status: Non-Exempt -Collective Bargaining IJnit <br />PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION <br />To operate, develop plans and administer maintenance programs; monitor and adjust all <br />operations, administrate and over-see all repairs pertaining to the City's water system. This <br />position will handle and respond to concerns and complaints, maintain safety standards along <br />with records and reports pertaining to the City's water system. Will be responsible for ordering <br />and maintaining the equipment essential to the Water Department. This position will also <br />participate in the Water Department budget processes and to keep abreast of new materials and <br />equipments pertaining to such. <br />This position will act as the Public Works Supervisor in the absence of the Public Works and <br />Parks Supe2visors. <br />• SUPERVISION RECEIVED <br />Works under the supervision of the Public Works Supervisor. <br />SUPERVISION EXERCISED <br />Over sees repairs to the water distribution system performed by staff or contractors to ensure that <br />they are done in accordance with the City and the Minnesota Department of Health <br />specifications. <br />ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES <br />^ Monitors SCADA system for the water distribution system for the City of Mounds View, <br />and retains a minimum of a " B" water license for the City to meet state requirements. <br />^ All pumping records and data required for each well. <br />^ Operates a variety of diagnostic instruments and a variety of hand, electric, and air-driven <br />tools. <br />^ Tests, services and repairs mechanical equipment to the best of his knowledge. <br />^ Inspects, adjusts and replaces necessary equipment as needed. <br />^ Follows and conforms to all requirements set by the MDH, (Minnesota Dept. of Health). <br />^ Maintain a (B) water license or above as required for the municipal system. <br />^ Orders alI chemicals needed to produce the highest water quality. <br />^ Is involved in yearly budget and C.I.P.(Capital Improvement Plan) for replacement of <br />materials and equipment. <br />^ Purchases equipment, parts, and supplies used for municipal system. <br />• Monitors the municipal system from home during off hrs. (After normally scheduled <br />hours according to the contract). <br />• <br />
