Purchases equipment, parts, and supplies used for municipal system. • <br />Monitors the municipal system from home during off hours. (after normally <br />scheduled hours according to the contract). <br />Assist in the preparation of bid specifications (Water Dept related) <br />Schedules projects to be performed for system maintenance with the Public <br />Works Supervisor. <br />Maintains records, prepares reports and other specialized maintenance records <br />of equipment and mechanical equipment. <br />Follows de artmental safe re ulations and o eratin rocedures that are in <br />compliance with applicable Minnesota Occupational Safety and Health Laws <br />and re ulations. Also reco nizes otential hazards in the work environment <br />and notifies Pubic Works Su ervisor for corrective action. <br />PERIPHERAL DUTIES <br />Works with other City employees in a cooperative manner to maintain a team <br />effort and also can work efficiently alone. <br />Performs related duties and apparent or delegated to ensure the successful <br />operation of the Public Works Department. <br />Serves on various employee or other committees as assigned. <br />Maintains ability and knowledge to assist in training of other employees. <br />Services on various employee or other committees as assigned. <br />Snowplowing duties as assigned. <br />Participates in an "On Call" rotation schedule after ~ea~ 6 months of • <br />employment. <br />MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS <br />(A) Graduation from a high school or GED equivalent. <br />(B) Five years of related experience <br />(C) Must have and retain a class (B) water license. <br />**see contract for job classification system and minimum advancement qualifications. <br />NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES <br />(A) Working knowledge of equipment, materials and supplies used in building and <br />ground maintenance and construction activities; Working knowledge of <br />equipment and supplies used to do minor repairs; Working knowledge of <br />application safety precautions. <br />(B) Skill in operation of some of the listed tools and equipment. <br />(C) Ability to work independently and to complete daily activities according to work <br />schedule; Ability to lift heavy objects, walk and stand for long periods of time, <br />and to perform strenuous physical labor under adverse conditions; Ability to <br />perform heavy manual tasks for extended periods of time; Ability to work safely; <br />Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; Ability to establish and <br />maintain effective working relationships with employees, other departments and <br />the public; Ability to understand and cant' out written and oral instructions. <br />• <br />
