• POSITION DESCRIPTION Position Title: Public Works Maintenance Department: Public Works -Sanitary Sewer Accountable To: Public Works Director Status: Collective Bargaining Unit -Non-Exempt To provide maintenance service and repair to facilities and equipment of the City's Sanitary Sewer Division of the Public Works Department, and other related facilities as apparent of directed. These tasks may include, but not be limited to; ensuirng proper operation of the City's sanitary sewer system (including lift stations, sanitary sewer mains, and manholes), conduct and document inspection of sewer mains, perform jetting and cleaning operations, vehicle and equipment repair, equipment operats, and a variety of skilled and unskilled labor tasks within the Public Works Department. SUPERVISION RECEIVED Works under the general guidance and direction of the Public Works Supervisor. SUPERVISION EXERCISED May oversee work by seasonal workers as assigned. • ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBIL(T(ES • Operates sewer televising and maintenance eugpiment such as: sewer camera, computer, jetting/vactor truck and related equipment. • Operates heavy equipment related to a variety of City programs such as patching, snow plowing, excavating, and other tasks as delegated in a safe and proficient manner. • Assesses situations or problems and determine workable solutions ar methods to resolve them with limited supervision. . Makes recommendations to the Public Works Supervisor on operating matters of the department including personnel, equipment and work procedures which will improve the functioning of the Public Works Department to provide better maintenance and service. • Follows departmental safety regulations and operating procedures that are in compliance with applicable Minnesota Occupational Safety and Health Laws and regulations. Also recognizes potential hazards in the work environment and notifies Public Works Supervisor for corrective action. • Purchases operational supplies with responsibility and in accordance with City Purchasing Policy. • Maintains or repairs equipment as apparent or assigned, within knowledgeable limits to ensure vehicles and equipment are in good repair and appearance. • Maintains knowledge of safe handling and application of chemicals used in • departmental programs.
