• POSITION DESCRIPTION <br />Position Title: Public Works Maintenance <br />Department: Public Works -Sanitary Sewer <br />Accountable To: Public Works Director <br />Status: Collective Bargaining Unit -Non-Exempt <br />To provide maintenance service and repair to facilities and equipment of the City's <br />Sanitary Sewer Division of the Public Works Department, and other related facilities as <br />apparent of directed. These tasks may include, but not be limited to; ensuirng proper <br />operation of the City's sanitary sewer system (including lift stations, sanitary sewer <br />mains, and manholes), conduct and document inspection of sewer mains, perform <br />jetting and cleaning operations, vehicle and equipment repair, equipment operats, and a <br />variety of skilled and unskilled labor tasks within the Public Works Department. <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED <br />Works under the general guidance and direction of the Public Works Supervisor. <br />SUPERVISION EXERCISED <br />May oversee work by seasonal workers as assigned. <br />• ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBIL(T(ES <br />• Operates sewer televising and maintenance eugpiment such as: sewer camera, <br />computer, jetting/vactor truck and related equipment. <br />• Operates heavy equipment related to a variety of City programs such as <br />patching, snow plowing, excavating, and other tasks as delegated in a safe and <br />proficient manner. <br />• Assesses situations or problems and determine workable solutions ar methods to <br />resolve them with limited supervision. . <br />Makes recommendations to the Public Works Supervisor on operating matters of <br />the department including personnel, equipment and work procedures which will <br />improve the functioning of the Public Works Department to provide better <br />maintenance and service. <br />• Follows departmental safety regulations and operating procedures that are in <br />compliance with applicable Minnesota Occupational Safety and Health Laws and <br />regulations. Also recognizes potential hazards in the work environment and <br />notifies Public Works Supervisor for corrective action. <br />• Purchases operational supplies with responsibility and in accordance with City <br />Purchasing Policy. <br />• Maintains or repairs equipment as apparent or assigned, within knowledgeable <br />limits to ensure vehicles and equipment are in good repair and appearance. <br />• Maintains knowledge of safe handling and application of chemicals used in <br />• departmental programs. <br />
