Writes and reviews specifications on equipment purchases then makes • <br />recommendations to the Director of Public Works. <br />• Oversees community service (court ordered) workers and supervises <br />various volunteer groups. <br />• Responds to after hour emergency calls and assigns personnel <br />accordingly to ensure a quick response to such calls and maintain positive <br />community relations, <br />• Assists the Public Works Director in the development of short and long <br />range goals for Park functions. <br />• Determine the priority and type of maintenance and repairs to be made to <br />equipment, irrigation systems, playground equipment, buildings and other <br />park infrastructure. <br />• Coordinate with the Public Works Supervisor the timely and orderly <br />removal of snow from City streets, buildings, trails, ice rinks and grounds. <br />• Administers the City's parks safety and training programs in conformance <br />with all federal and state taws and takes prompt corrective action <br />concerning potentia{ safety hazards. <br />• Ensures effective utilization and motivation of all Park personnel. <br />• Schedules regular inspections of Park facilities. <br />• Assigns duties to employees under his or her command. <br />• Directs and reviews supervisory practices, ensures effective <br />communications; reviews problems, recommend discipline for just cause <br />per the City's personnel manual, directs the work of employees <br />• Documents employee performance and conducts performance appraisal <br />of employees. <br />• Make recommendations relating to the hiring, transfer, suspension, <br />promotion, discharge, assignments, reward or discipline of Park <br />employees. <br />• Monitors and approves timecards, attendance, overtime, vacations, <br />holidays, sick leave, leaves of absence, etc. Evaluate and investigate <br />complaints against employees. <br />Keeps the Public Works Director promptly informed of significant matters <br />in areas of accountability and recommend action. <br />• Address and resolves complaints from the public and attempt to resolve <br />them in a timely and courteous manner. <br />• Attends City Council meetings as requested. <br />• Serves as staff liaison to the Park and Recreation Commission and <br />attends regular meetings. <br />• Performs other work related to the position. <br />PERIPHERAL DUTIES <br />Responds to citizen requests and complaints in a manner consistent with <br />City policies and regulation and maintains positive community relations. <br />Prepares and submits periodic reports as requested. <br />Keeps Public Works Director informed of al{ important matters which must <br />be known to effectively manage the City's Public Works operations. • <br />Performs other responsibilities as apparent or as delegated. <br />
