PERIPHERAL DUTIES • <br />• Works with other City employees in a cooperative manner to maintain a team <br />effort and also can work effectively alone. <br />Performs related duties as apparent or delegated to ensure the successful <br />operation of the Public Works Department. <br />Maintains abi{ity and knowledge to assist in training of other employees. <br />® Services on various employee or other committees as assigned. <br />MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS <br />Education and Experience: <br />(A) Graduation from a high school or GED equivalent. <br />"* see contract for job classification system and minimum advancement <br />qualifications. <br />NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES <br />(A) Working knowledge of equipment, materials and supplies used in building <br />and ground maintenance; Working knowledge of equipment and supplies <br />used to do minor repairs: Working knowledge of application safety <br />precautions. <br />(B) Skill in operation of listed tools and equipment. <br />(C) Ability to work independently and to complete daily activities according to <br />work schedule; Ability to lift heavy objects, walk and stand for long <br />periods of time, and to perform strenuous physical labor under adverse <br />conditions; Ability to perform heavy manual tasks for extended periods of <br />time; Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with <br />employees, other departments and the public; Ability to understand and <br />carry out written and oral instructions. <br />SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS <br />Valid State Driver's license. Possess or obtain CDL certification, Class D Water <br />Supply System Operator's Certificate, and S-D Wastewater operators certificate. <br />TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED <br />Motorized vehicles and equipment, including dump truck, pickup truck, utility truck, <br />tamper, plate compactor, saws, pumps, areole propane kettle, compressors, <br />sanders, generators, common hand and power tools, shovels, wrenches, detection <br />devices, mobile radio, phone, ditch witch, computer. <br />PHYSICAL DEMANDS <br />The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met <br />by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. <br />Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to <br />perform the essential functions. <br />• <br />
