• Knowledge of the practices and principles of fire suppression and medical • <br />emergency rescue. <br />• Knowledge of the geography of the City and location of hydrants, building <br />and special areas requiring special pre-fire contro{ planning, inspection <br />and special fire fighting techniques. <br />• Knowledge of the state fire code, state laws and local authorities as they <br />apply to the position. <br />• Skill in public presentations and negotiation skills. <br />MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS <br />Education and Experience <br />• 1 year of Housing Inspections and/or experience. <br />DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS <br />• Knowledge of housing inspection programs and practices. <br />• General knowledge of housing codes. <br />• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing. <br />• Ability to work well with the public and with local contractors <br />• Ability to read and understand complicated plans and blueprints. <br />• <br />SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS <br />A state drivers license or ability to obtain one by start of employment. <br />TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED <br />Personal computer, including word processing, spreadsheet and permitting <br />software; photocopier, motor vehicle, calculator, portable radio. <br />PHYSICAL DEMANDS <br />The physical demand here are representative of those that must be met by an <br />employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
