• Supervises scheduling of department personnel and submit payrollltime sheets to Chief of • <br />Police at assigned payroll periods. <br />• Assign cases for investigation. <br />• Create articles and reports for media or citizens. <br />• Track and maintain records of employee's time requirements for shifts and training. <br />PERIPHERAL DUTIES <br />• Assumes other responsibilities asapparent or asdelegated by the Chief of Police. <br />• Maintains thorough knowledge of state and federal laws, city ordinances and related rules of <br />arrest and search or seizure to ensure legally accepted procedures are consistently followed. <br />• Thorough knowledge of approved investigative and law enforcement methods. <br />• Develops, maintains and promotes a cooperative work environment with coworkers. <br />• Promotes a favorable image of the department to the public. <br />MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS <br />Education and Experience: <br />(A) High school diploma or equivalent supplemented by a two-year community college degree or <br />vocational school training in police sciences, law enforcement, criminal justice administration, <br />public administration, or a closely related field; and <br />(B) Completion of the basic law enforcement training academy or equivalent; and <br />(C) Minimum of five years work experience as a fully commissioned police officer with the <br />Mounds View Police Department, three of which shall have been in the position of Sergeant, or • <br />Investigator; or <br />(D) Minimum of five years work experience as a fully commissioned police officer with the <br />Mounds View Police Department, and completion of a bachelor degree or advanced degree <br />(graduate or Iaw degree) <br />NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES <br />(A) Thorough knawledge of modern lawn enforcement principles, procedures, techniques, and <br />equipment; considerable knowledge of applicable laws, ordinances, and department rules and <br />regulation; extensive knowledge of citys geography. <br />(B) Skill in the operation of the tools and equipment listed below. <br />(C) Ability to train and supervise subordinate personnel; ability to perform work requiring good <br />physical condition; ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; ability to establish <br />and maintain effective working relationships with subordinates, peers, and supervisors; ability <br />to exercise sound judgment in evaluating situations and in making decisions; ability to follow <br />and give verbal and written instructions; ability to utilize Microsoft computer applications and <br />other applicable computer systems and ability to meet the special requirements listed below: <br />SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: <br />(A) Must possess, or be able to obtain by time of hire, valid MN State Driver's License without <br />record of suspension or revocation in any state; <br />(B) Ability to meet department's physical standards; <br />(C) Must posses a Minnesota Feace Officer Standards and Training Peace Officer License. <br />r~ <br />U <br />
