Mounds View City Council March 11, 2013 <br />Regular Meeting Page 3 <br /> <br />for sick time. In addition, Officer Nelson was authorized a vacation time payout of $4,996.46 to <br />his retirement health savings plan. Finally, Officer Nelson was due a compensatory time payout <br />of $1,437.58 to his retirement health savings plan. Staff recommends approval of the severance <br />not to exceed $48,981.10 into Officer Nelson’s retirement health savings plan. <br /> <br />MOTION/SECOND: Gunn/Hull. To Waive the Reading and Adopt Resolution 8070, <br />Approving Severance for Sergeant Robert Nelson of the Mounds View Police Department. <br /> <br />Council Member Mueller thanked Officer Nelson for his outstanding service to the community. <br />She wished him well in his retirement. <br /> <br />Mayor Flaherty requested information on the City’s new sick pay standards. City Administrator <br />Ericson indicated the sick pay hours have now been capped and apply to all new hires. <br /> <br />Mayor Flaherty commented the Council did not budget for this expense. He questioned where <br />the funds would come from for this expense. City Administrator Ericson stated the expense <br />could come out of LGA funds. The Council was in agreement with this recommendation. <br /> <br /> Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. <br /> <br />D. Resolution 8071, Appointing Brett Brisbois to a Vacant Maintenance Worker <br />(Stormwater) Position in the Public Works Department. <br /> <br />Assistant City Administrator Crane stated on February 25th the Council authorized the hire of a <br />Public Works stormwater maintenance worker. She indicated a promotion was completed from <br />within the Public Works Department for Brett Brisbois. Staff recommended the Council <br />authorize the recommended appointment. <br /> <br />MOTION/SECOND: Mueller/Meehlhause. To Waive the Reading and Adopt Resolution 8071, <br />Appointing Brett Brisbois to a Vacant Maintenance Worker (Stormwater) Position in the Public <br />Works Department. <br /> <br /> Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. <br /> <br />E. Resolution 8072, Approving a Revised Position Description and Authorizing <br />Advertisement for Rehiring a Maintenance Worker (Drinking Water) in the <br />Public Works Department. <br /> <br />Public Works Director DeBar indicated with the appointment of Brett Brisbois to the vacant <br />stormwater maintenance worker position, the Public Works Department now had a vacancy for a <br />drinking water maintenance worker. He discussed revisions within the job description in detail <br />noting a pay change would not be required. It was noted the posting would be made internally <br />for five days, after which time the position would be posted with the League of Minnesota Cities. <br />Staff requested the Council approve a revised position description and authorize advertisement <br />for rehiring this position.
