Mounds View City Council March 11, 2013 <br />Regular Meeting Page 4 <br /> <br /> <br />Council Member Mueller asked why the candidate had to have a Class B commercial driver’s <br />license with air brake endorsement. Public Works Director DeBar indicated the snow plow <br />trucks and sewer vactor truck were large pieces of equipment with air brakes and required a Class <br />B commercial driver’s license. <br /> <br />MOTION/SECOND: Mueller/Hull. To Waive the Reading and Adopt Resolution 8072, <br />Approving a Revised Position Description and Authorizing Advertisement for Rehiring a <br />Maintenance Worker (Drinking Water) in the Public Works Department. <br /> <br />Council Member Mueller inquired if the City had internal employees interested in this position. <br />Public Works Director DeBar commented the City may have current employees interested <br />however, the Class C driver’s license requirement would have to be met. <br /> <br />Mayor Flaherty thanked the department heads for continuing to reevaluate job descriptions to <br />assure that the positions were updated to meet the City’s current needs. <br /> <br /> Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. <br /> <br />F. Resolution 8073, Approving a Revised Position Description for Seasonal <br />Maintenance Worker in the Public Works Department. <br /> <br />Public Works Director DeBar stated seasonal maintenance workers were employed by the City <br />and Public Works Department on a yearly basis and provided a semi-skilled workforce during the <br />peak summer months, while not encumbering the City to pay higher wages and benefits of a <br />permanent employee. He noted the Council approved the hire of seasonal employees for 2013. <br />Staff requested the Council approve a revised position description for the seasonal maintenance <br />worker for the Public Works Department. <br /> <br />Council Member Mueller commended Staff for revising the position description as job <br />responsibilities were now more specified for future candidates. <br /> <br />Council Member Meehlhause also thanked Staff for making the revisions. <br /> <br />MOTION/SECOND: Mueller/Gunn.
