Mounds View City Council December 12, 2016 <br />Regular Meeting Page 11 <br /> <br /> <br />Police Chief Harder requested the Council consider purchasing a new fence for the Police <br />parking lot. He estimated the fence would cost $24,675 and would be vinyl dipped fence with a <br />walking gate. He explained the fence would improve security within the parking lot for both the <br />officers and those being brought in for custody. He described the proposed black fence noting it <br />would be six feet in height. <br /> <br />Council Member Mueller asked if the backup generator on the west side of the building would <br />still be accessible. Police Chief Harder explained the fence would have a key code or FOB <br />access point. <br /> <br />Council Member Meehlhause questioned if the fence was included in the 2017 budget. Finance <br />Director Beer reported $25,000 had been set aside for this project. <br /> <br />There was Council consensus to support the fencing project. Police Chief Harder thanked the <br />Council for their support. <br /> <br />City Administrator Ericson thanked the Council for their support and stated a Resolution would <br />come before the Council at their next meeting. <br /> <br />Police Chief Harder reported the Shop with a Cop event would be held on Thursday, December <br />15th. He explained volunteers were still needed for this event. <br /> <br />Police Chief Harder stated he was also seeking memorabilia from the City of Mounds View for <br />the Police Department. He explained he has priced out display cases and would be working to <br />find items to display within the department. <br /> <br />Public Works Director Erickson reported Xcel Energy would be changing out street lighting in <br />the first quarter of 2017 on the cobra head style lights. He explained the new lights would be <br />more white in appearance. <br /> <br />Public Works Director Erickson encouraged the public to use caution when approaching snow <br />plows. He also asked that trash cans not be placed in the middle of the street during snow events. <br /> <br />Public Works Supervisor Peterson reported it was against State Statute to deposit snow into a <br />City or County street. He then reviewed the amount of salt and sand the City used in the recent <br />snow event. He stated local rinks have been flooded and he anticipated they would be open by <br />the end of the week. <br /> <br />Public Works Supervisor Peterson discussed the meeting rooms at the Community Center and <br />explained there was interest in purchasing new tables for this space. <br /> <br />Council Member Mueller supported the table purchase and noted the tables would be cheaper <br />than a remodel of the meeting space.
