Resolution 8519, Approving a Revised Job Description and Authorization to <br />Advertise for a Seasonal Intern in the Public Works Department. <br /> <br />Assistant City Administrator Crane indicated the Public Works Department was requesting a <br />seasonal intern. This intern was first approved in 2006 in lieu of a seasonal worker. She <br />reported this position would be temporary and part-time in nature. She explained the last time <br />the City had an intern in the Public Works Department was 2010. She reviewed the revised job <br />description and recommended approval and authorization to advertise for the position. <br /> <br />Acting Mayor Mueller requested further information on the ArcView computer software <br />program. Public Works Director Erickson explained this was the City’s GIS software. He <br />provided further comment on how the intern would gain knowledge in the City’s GIS system <br />through the internship. <br /> <br />MOTION/SECOND: Hull/Meehlhause. To Waive the Reading and Adopt Resolution 8519, <br />Approving a Revised Job Description and Authorization to Advertise for a Seasonal Intern in the <br />Public Works Department. <br /> <br /> Ayes – 4 Nays – 0 Motion carried. <br /> <br />G. Resolution 8514, Approve Plans and Specifications and Authorize <br />Advertisement for Bids, SUIP, Area I. <br /> <br />Public Works Director Erickson requested the Council approve plans and specifications and <br />authorize advertisement for bids for Area I. He noted the designs for Area I were complete and <br />all approvals were in place. He indicated Municipal State Aid funding was available to assist <br />with the expense of Area I. He described the bidding process in further detail with the Council <br />and recommended approval. <br /> <br />Acting Mayor Mueller asked which properties within the project area would be delayed to 2017. <br />Public Works Director Erickson described the properties that would be delayed until 2017 as <br />being those east of Quincy. <br /> <br />Acting Mayor Mueller questioned if the new contract would have the 21-day clause. Public <br />Works Director Erickson commented this has been discussed by staff and would be written into <br />the plans and specs. <br /> <br />Acting Mayor Mueller inquired if there was a penalty placed on contractors if they were not able <br />to meet the 21-day clause. Public Works Director Erickson indicated he would have to be in <br />touch with contractors as weather may keep contractors from meeting the 21-day deadline. <br />
