Mounds View City Council March 14, 2016 <br />Regular Meeting Page 3 <br /> <br />Drive. He encouraged Mr. O’Connell to contact the City if any problems were created by the <br />new dogs. <br /> <br />Maggie Alt, 2295 Pinewood Drive, explained she worked as a veterinarian technician and has not <br />had any problems with the dogs in the past four months. She reported she has not received any <br />complaints from her neighbors to date. She indicated she would do her best to provide them with <br />the best care and understood the concerns of her neighbors. <br /> <br />Mayor Flaherty closed the public hearing at 7:19 p.m. <br /> <br />Council Member Meehlhause asked where the dogs were when Ms. Alt was at work. Ms. Alt <br />reported the dogs were in the house. <br /> <br />Council Member Mueller questioned if Ms. Alt’s landlord was aware she had three dogs. Ms. <br />Alt stated this was the case. She explained she previously rented from her landlord in <br />Minneapolis for a year and half and was happy that she could move into a home in Mounds View <br />owned by the same landlord. <br /> <br />Mayor Flaherty indicated the kennel license would expire June 30 th of this year, which would be <br />a great trial period for Ms. Alt. He inquired what type of dogs Ms. Alt owned. Ms. Alt indicated <br />she owned three very friendly and social pitbulls. <br /> <br />MOTION/SECOND: Flaherty/Meehlhause. To Waive the Reading and Adopt Resolution 8535, <br />a Resolution to Consider a Residential Kennel License for Maggie Alt of 2295 Pinewood Drive. <br /> <br /> Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. <br /> <br />G. Resolution 8531, a Resolution Accepting a Donation from Bethlehem Baptist <br />Church and Approving Redistribution of Funds. <br /> <br />City Administrator Ericson stated Bethlehem Baptist Church has been in the community since <br />2004. This church has been reinvesting in the community and has been providing donations to <br />the City of Mounds View since 2006. He explained the City recently received a check in the <br />amount of $15,853. He reviewed a list of targeted areas these funds are to be used and <br />recommended the Council accept the donation approving the redistribution of funds. <br /> <br />Wayne Anderson, Quincy Tree House representative, introduced himself and his organization to <br />the City Council. He reported Tree House was working to provide a safe place for at risk youth. <br />He indicated Tree House provided these youth with tutors and positive mentors that assist these <br />youth through the issues in their lives. <br /> <br />Mayor Flaherty asked if the mentors worked one on one with the youth. Mr. Anderson stated this <br />was the goal for the Tree House program. He worked to have mentors working with the youth <br />for at least one year. He discussed the extensive background checks that were completed on all <br />volunteers and mentors.
