Mounds View City Council April 11, 2016 <br />Regular Meeting Page 4 <br /> <br /> <br />Assistant City Administrator Crane requested the Council consider a restaurant license for Arepa <br />Bite Latin Food. She indicated this restaurant would be located at 2213 County Road 10, which <br />was the former KFC site. It was noted the applicant had submitted all necessary paperwork and <br />received a satisfactory Department of Health inspection. The only outstanding item was a fire <br />inspection. Staff recommended approval of the restaurant license. <br /> <br />Erwin Chacon, Arepa Bite Latin Food representative, introduced himself to the Council stating <br />his restaurant would bring the flavors of Venezuela to Mounds View residents. He explained he <br />had another restaurant already in operation in Eden Prairie. He then described the food items that <br />would be on his restaurant menu. <br /> <br />Council Member Mueller encouraged Arepa Bite to participate in the Festival in the Park, which <br />would be held on Saturday, August 20th. <br /> <br />Mayor Flaherty questioned how many employees would be working at the restaurant. Mr. <br />Chacon indicated he would have six full time and two part time employees. <br /> <br />Mayor Flaherty asked when the restaurant would be open for business. Mr. Chacon reported his <br />restaurant would be open in two weeks. <br /> <br />Council Member Meehlhause requested further information regarding the hours of operation. <br />Mr. Chacon noted the Arepa Bite would be open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday through <br />Saturday and Sunday hours were still being considered. <br /> <br />MOTION/SECOND: Mueller/Meehlhause. To Waive the Reading and Adopt Resolution 8550, <br />a Resolution to Consider a Restaurant License for Arepa Bite Latin Food located at 2213 County <br />Road 10, contingent on a satisfactory fire inspection. <br /> <br />Mayor Flaherty looked forward to visiting this new restaurant in the City. <br /> <br />Council Member Mueller welcomed the owners of Arepa Bite to the Mounds View community. <br /> <br />Council Member Gunn encouraged Arepa to consider hiring local high school students for their <br />part time positions. <br /> <br /> Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. <br /> <br />B. Resolution 8540, Approve County Road I Concrete Rehabilitation Project <br />Cost Share Agreement with Ramsey County. <br /> <br />Public Works Director Erickson reviewed the County Road I cost share agreement in detail with <br />the Council. He noted this matter was previously discussed by the Council at their March 28th <br />meeting. At that meeting, staff was directed to review the costs with Ramsey County given the <br />fact the bids came in higher than anticipated. He reported the engineering design fee was
