Mounds View City Council June 13, 2016 <br />Regular Meeting Page 11 <br /> <br />Council Member Mueller stated the next Festival in the Park Committee meeting would be held <br />on Tuesday, June 21st at City Hall. The meeting would be held at 7:00 p.m. She encouraged <br />those interested and willing to assist with this wonderful event to attend this meeting. She then <br />reviewed the list of scheduled events for this year’s Festival in the Park. <br /> <br />Council Member Mueller indicated the League of Minnesota Cities conference would be held <br />June 14th through June 17th. She stated she would be interviewing LMC board candidates again <br />this year. This was a special privilege for her as this was her last year serving on the LMC board. <br />She congratulated the City of Mounds View for their efforts on becoming a GreenStep City. <br /> <br />Council Member Meehlhause thanked City Administrator Ericson, Finance Director Beer, Mayor <br />Flaherty and Council Member Gunn for participating in the Northeast Youth and Family Services <br />Mayor’s Cup golf event. He stated there were 24 teams signed up for this event. He indicated he <br />would be attending an NYFS meeting on Thursday along with the League of Minnesota Cities <br />Conference this week. <br /> <br />Council Member Mueller asked if the Council could approve motion of support for Council <br />Member Meehlhause becoming the NYFS Chair. <br /> <br />Council Member Meehlhause did not believe this was necessary. <br /> <br />MOTION/SECOND: Mueller/Hull. The Council Expresses its Support for Council Member <br />Meehlhause Becoming the Northeast Youth and Family Services Chairman of the Board. <br /> <br /> Ayes – 4 Nays – 0 Abstain – 1 (Meehlhause) Motion carried. <br /> <br />Mayor Flaherty stated he had a great time at the Mayor’s Cup golf event. <br /> <br />Mayor Flaherty reminded the Council of the tri-city meeting with Blaine and Spring Lake Park, <br />which would be held on Tuesday, June 14th. <br /> <br />Mayor Flaherty indicated he would be attending a Cable Commission meeting on Wednesday. <br /> <br /> B. Reports of Staff. <br /> <br />Finance Director Beer reported he and Administrator Ericson met with Fire Chief Smith where <br />the 2017 preliminary budget was discussed. He provided a summary of the budget and stated <br />these were early numbers that would be revised over the coming months. At this time, the <br />preliminary budget impact was showing a net decrease of $11,000 for 2017. <br /> <br />City Administrator Ericson stated compensation for the City Council was recently discussed at a <br />worksession meeting. He indicated it had been 13 years since the Council has had a pay increase. <br />He explained an Ordinance would have to be adopted in order to amend the Council pay. He <br />provided the Council with some research he had conducted regarding Council pay. It was noted <br />Council and Mayor pay was higher in surrounding communities. He commented if the Council
