He indicated staff requested bids for the sign which ranged from <br />$24,000 to $47,000. The low bid was submitted by Laurence Signs in St. Paul. Staff <br />recommended the Council approve the replacement of the Community Center Sign and order the <br />improvement. If approved, the sign would be completed in August 2016. <br /> <br />Council Member Mueller requested the sign be completed prior to Festival in the Park which <br />would be held on August 20th of this year. <br /> <br />Mayor Flaherty questioned which Sign Option the Council wanted to proceed with. <br /> <br />Council Member Meehlhause supported Option 1 as it was consistent with the City Hall sign. <br /> <br />Council Member Hull was in favor of Option 2 and wanted to see the sign on the north side of <br />the entrance. <br /> <br />Council Member Mueller supported Option 1 on the north side of the entrance. <br /> <br />Mayor Flaherty and Council Member Gunn agreed with this recommendation. <br /> <br />Council Member Gunn questioned if more panels could be added in the future. Public Works <br />Supervisor reported this could be done. <br /> <br />There was Council consensus for sign Option 1, with four panels on the north side of the <br />entrance. City Administrator Ericson reviewed the Resolution amounts in detail with the <br />Council. <br /> <br />MOTION/SECOND: Mueller/Gunn. To Waive the Reading and Adopt Resolution 8584, <br />Approve Replacement of the Mounds View Community Center Sign and Order Improvement, <br />with the numbers as discussed by staff. <br /> <br />Council Member Mueller thanked staff for their work on this project and was pleased that the <br />bids came in under budget. <br /> <br /> Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. <br /> <br /> <br />F. First Reading and Introduction of Ordinance 919, an Ordinance Amending <br />Chapter 1008 of the Mounds View Municipal Code Regarding Dynamic <br />Display Signs. <br /> <br />City Administrator Ericson requested the Council consider an Ordinance amending Chapter 1008 <br />of the City Code regarding dynamic display signs. The proposed amendment would allow for <br />full color dynamic display signs in the R-1 zoning district for churches and institutional uses. He <br />reported the Planning Commission recommended approval of the Ordinance amendment. <br /> <br />
