To Approve the June 27, 2016, City Council meeting <br />minutes as corrected. <br /> <br /> Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. <br /> <br />C. June 27, 2016, Executive Session Meeting Minutes. <br /> <br />Mayor Flaherty reviewed the reason the City Council met in an Executive Closed Session, noting <br />the Council reviewed the City Administrator’s job performance. <br /> <br />Mayor Flaherty reported that the Council had gone into closed session to conduct a performance <br />review on Administrator Ericson and that it was the consensus of the Council that Mr. Ericson <br />was meeting or exceeding the Council’s expectations. <br /> <br />MOTION/SECOND: Gunn/Hull. Reports of Mayor and Council. <br /> <br />Council Member Hull discussed Lou Gehrig’s famous speech about being the luckiest man alive. <br />He explained he was diagnosed with cancer this spring and this had really changed his <br />perspective on life. He discussed all of the physical and mental things he has been going through <br />in the past months and thanked his girlfriend Tasha for giving him strength. <br /> <br />Council Member Hull stepped down from the dais and asked his girlfriend to become his wife. <br />She said yes and there was a round of applause by all in attendance. <br /> <br />Mayor Flaherty offered his congratulations to both Council Member Hull and his fiancé. <br /> <br />Council Member Mueller congratulated Tasha and Council Member Hull as well. <br /> <br />Council Member Mueller encouraged the public to participate in Festival in the Park on <br />Saturday, August 20th. She noted the Festival in the Park Committee would meet next on <br />Tuesday, July 19th at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall. Those interested in volunteering were encouraged to <br />attend this meeting. <br /> <br />Council Member Meehlhause stated he attended New Brighton Public Safety Director Bob <br />Jacobson’s retirement party last Thursday. He indicated this was a very well attended event that <br />lasted well over two hours. He wished Mr. Jacobson well in his retirement. <br />
