Mounds View City Council July 14, 2014
Regular Meeting Page 7

regarding donation collection bins. She explained that USAgain has requested to put a donation
bin at Cross of Glory Church and has filled out all of the necessary paperwork. Staff reviewed
the request in further detail and recommended the Council approve the request. She reported
Cross of Glory Church fully supported the request.

MOTION/SECOND: Gunn/Mueller. To Waive the Reading and Adopt Resolution 8276,
Approving a Donation Collection Bin License for USAgain, LLC, to Place a Donation Collection
Bin at Cross of Glory Church located at 5472 Adams Street.

Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried.

F. Resolution 8278, Approving the Purchase of a 2015 Service Truck for the
Water Division of Public Works.

Public Works Supervisor Peterson explained he was seeking approval for the purchase of a 2015
service truck for the water division of Public Works. He explained this vehicle would be used
for well buildings, water meters, watermain breaks, and valve repairs. He indicated this was a
budgeted expense for 2014. It was noted the current water division truck would be traded in. He
reported the expense for the new truck, box and air compressor was $62,234.32. Staff requested
the Council approve the purchase of the truck with a 5% contingency.

Council Member Meehlhause asked why an F350 was being recommended instead of the F250.
Public Works Supervisor Peterson indicated the F350 had better suspension and would better suit
the needs of the Public Works department.

Council Member Meehlhause questioned if the current water division truck had an air
compressor. Public Works Supervisor Peterson stated the current vehicle did not, but for safety
reasons, he was recommending this addition.

Council Member Mueller requested further information on the proposed super cab. Public
Works Supervisor Peterson commented Ford now offered a Super Cab and this would allow for
additional storage in the truck.

Mayor Flaherty inquired why staff was requesting a two-wheel drive truck. Public Works
Supervisor Peterson did not believe a four-wheel drive truck was necessary for the water
division. In addition, this would increase the expense of the vehicle another $4,000.

MOTION/SECOND: Mueller/Meehlhause. To Waive the Reading and Adopt Resolution 8278,
Approving the Purchase of a 2015 Service Truck for the Water Division of Public Works.

Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried.

G.
