Mounds View City Council November 10, 2014 <br />Regular Meeting Page 8 <br /> <br />calls and non-crime self-initiated calls. He discussed how the new CAD system was accurately <br />recording information for the Police Department. He reviewed the Towards Zero Deaths (TZD) <br />saturation events that took place during the third quarter. He was pleased by the department’s <br />efforts and the reduced number of drunk drivers on the roadways. <br /> <br />Police Chief Kinney provided comment on the school resource officer placement along with the <br />events that took place for National Night Out. He reported school supplies were collected from <br />Mounds View residents and were distributed to the local elementary schools. He then discussed <br />the public appearances Niko made during the third quarter. It was noted the gun safety course <br />was well attended again this fall. <br /> <br />Council Member Gunn thanked the local students for their generous donations to K9 Officer <br />Niko. <br /> <br />Council Member Mueller was proud that the City had 31 parties registered with the Police <br />Department for National Night Out. <br /> <br />Mayor Flaherty questioned if the school resource officer (SRO) was over tasked. Police Chief <br />Kinney commented the SRO was extremely busy but believed he could handle the current <br />workload. He discussed the partnership the department had with New Brighton. <br /> <br />City Administrator Ericson corrected a misstatement he made during just and correct claims <br />regarding the COBRA repayment made to a prior employee. <br /> <br />City Administrator Ericson explained a local catering business was interested in leasing the <br />kitchen facility at the Community Center. He requested comment from the Council on how to <br />proceed. The Council supported the lease and recommended this be brought back with further <br />information. <br /> <br />City Administrator Ericson reviewed the Council’s upcoming meeting schedule and worksession <br />agenda. <br /> <br />City Administrator Ericson reported Police Officer Anderson would be retiring after 29 years of <br />service to the City of Mounds View. <br /> <br />Mayor Flaherty stated the Ramsey County League of Local Government would be meeting on <br />November 20th at 6:00 at The Mermaid to provide a recap on the recent election. <br /> <br />C. Reports of City Attorney. <br /> <br />There was nothing additional to report. <br /> <br />12.
