January 5, 2015, City Council Meeting Minutes. <br /> <br />MOTION/SECOND: Gunn/Hull. To Approve the January 5, 2015, City Council meeting <br />minutes as presented. <br /> <br /> Ayes – 4 Nays – 0 Motion carried. <br /> <br />11. REPORTS <br />A. Reports of Mayor and Council. <br /> <br />Council Member Meehlhause indicated he attended a Twin Cities Gateway board meeting last <br />week. He reviewed the highlights of the meeting. He was pleased to report the group had an <br />excess of $400,000 in their budget and hotel revenues were up 11% in November of 2014. <br /> <br />Council Member Meehlhause reported he would be attending an NYFS board meeting this <br />Thursday, along with a League of Minnesota Cities Conference on Friday and Saturday. <br /> <br />Council Member Meehlhause explained the City was now accepting nominations for Citizen of <br />the Year. He noted that applications could be found on the City’s website or at City Hall and the <br />deadline for these nominations were due on February 9th. <br /> <br />Acting Mayor Mueller commented the Festival in the Park Committee met last Tuesday and was <br />in need of volunteers to assist with planning this year’s event. She indicated the committee <br />would meet again on Tuesday, February 17th. Those interested in serving could attend this <br />meeting or contact City Hall for further information. <br /> <br />Acting Mayor Mueller stated she attended a recent League of Minnesota Cities Board meeting <br />and noted Executive Director Jim Miller will be retiring. She noted the League would be looking <br />for new board members at their June conference in Duluth. <br /> <br />Acting Mayor Mueller sent her condolences on behalf of the entire Council to Jim Ericson and <br />his family due to the recent passing of a loved one. <br /> <br /> B. Reports of Staff. <br /> <br />Acting City Administrator Crane stated staff only received six applications for the Public Works <br />Director position, of which only three met the minimum qualifications.
