Mounds View City Council September 28, 2015 <br />Regular Meeting Page 5 <br /> <br />Council Member Mueller indicated she was in Mankato last week for the League of Minnesota <br />Cities Board of Directors retreat where top priorities for the Executive Director were discussed. <br /> <br />Council Member Mueller reported 37 years ago she was driving down University Avenue <br />towards south Minneapolis when a car veered into her lane and struck her vehicle head on. She <br />was happy to say she survived that accident and was married in July 36 years ago to her husband <br />Dan, and 35 years ago tomorrow began her career at Target Corporation. Another milestone for <br />her would occur on September 30 th , when Groveland Road north of Arden would receive <br />concrete curb and gutter. <br /> <br />Council Member Meehlhause noted he attended the Twin Cities Gateway board meeting two <br />weeks ago. He noted the 20-minute promotional video created for TCG was now available for <br />viewing. He was pleased to report that Mounds View hotel revenues were up 5% when <br />compared to last year. <br /> <br />Council Member Meehlhause indicated the Mounds View Lions Club would be holding its <br />Annual Spaghetti Feed on Thursday, October 8 th at the Kraus-Hartig VFW and the cost would be <br />$9.50 per adult. <br /> <br />Council Member Meehlhause commented he attend an NYFS board meeting last week. He <br />provided further comment on the unmet and emerging needs of the community that could be met <br />by NYFS. He anticipated that this matter would be discussed further by the Council at an <br />upcoming worksession meeting. <br /> <br />Mayor Flaherty stated on Saturday, September 19 th he attended the Mounds View Police <br />Department’s Punt, Pass and Kick event. He stated 50 kids signed up for this event and the age <br />group winners would be advancing to further competition. <br /> <br />Mayor Flaherty reported he recently attended a Five Cities meeting with local mayors and was <br />pleased to report that Mounds View had the lowest proposed levy for 2016. <br /> <br />Mayor Flaherty commented he attended a Super Bowl 50 Committee meeting on September 24 th . <br />The committee was seeking information from local communities and how it provides safe play <br />and activities for its residents. <br /> <br /> B. Reports of Staff. <br /> <br />Finance Director Beer provided comment on a memorandum he provided to the Council <br />regarding the water utility fund. <br /> <br />Acting City Administrator Crane reviewed the upcoming worksession agenda with the Council. <br />She was proud to report that the City has received its first volunteer application. She encouraged <br />all others interested in volunteering with the City to contact City Hall. <br />
