Mounds View City Council July 10, 2017 <br />Regular Meeting Page 11 <br /> <br />A. Reports of Mayor and Council. <br /> <br />Council Member Gunn stated she had good news to report from MnDOT regarding the I-35W <br />project noting this project has been fully funded by the State. She explained the project schedule <br />details were being worked on and work would begin on the corridor in early 2019. It was noted <br />the I-35W project would take three or four years to complete. <br /> <br />Council Member Gunn reported there would be a National Night Out Pre-Party on Saturday, <br />June 29th at the Mounds View City Hall Park from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. <br /> <br />Council Member Meehlhause explained he would not be able to attend the National Night Out <br />pre-party as he would be attending a family reunion in Iowa. <br /> <br />Council Member Meehlhause provided the Council with an update from NYFS and noted he <br />would be attending an NYFS Executive Committee meeting on Friday, July 14th. <br /> <br />Mayor Mueller discussed the 11th Annual Car Show which would be held at Festival in the Park <br />on Saturday, August 19th and noted additional flyers for the event were available at City Hall. <br />She reported it would cost $10 to register a car for the Car Show. She then reviewed all of the <br />events being planned for Festival in the Park. She encouraged those attending Festival in the <br />Park to consider bringing along a donation of school supplies or food for the Ralph Reeder Food <br />Shelf. She provided further comment on the growing need in the community for summer <br />donations. <br /> <br />Mayor Mueller stated Mounds View Matters was now being mailed to all Mounds View <br />residents. She then reviewed the new look of the Sun Focus and encouraged all residents to sign <br />up for this free publication. <br /> <br />Mayor Mueller commented on a letter she received from the League of Minnesota Cities <br />Intergovernmental Relations Team. She was proud to report Representative Randy Jessup was <br />being recognized for his tremendous leadership and service to the community. She commended <br />Representative Jessup for his great work and for representing the City’s needs. A round of <br />applause was offered by all in attendance. <br /> <br />Mayor Mueller stated she attended a Five Mayors meeting today in Shoreview. She provided <br />further comment on the items addressed at this meeting. <br /> <br />Mayor Mueller noted the next Festival in the Park meeting was scheduled for Tuesday, July 18th <br />at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall. She stated volunteers were still needed to assist with this year’s event. <br />In addition, the City was seeking volunteers to assist with planning the City’s 60th Anniversary <br />Celebration. The first meeting for this group would be held in September. <br /> <br />Mayor Mueller explained she was so blessed to live in a community with great neighbors. She <br />thanked Ernie and Jeanette Lepore for having a little library and encouraged residents to drop by
