Mounds View City Council July 10, 2017 <br />Regular Meeting Page 12 <br /> <br />the corner of Ardan Avenue and Groveland Road for story time every other Tuesday at 10:00 <br />a.m. during the summer. <br /> <br /> B. Reports of Staff. <br /> <br />Finance Director Beer stated he continued to work on the 2018 General Fund budget and would <br />have further information for the Council to review in August. <br /> <br />Public Works Director Erickson reported he and Council Member Meehlhause toured the Public <br />Works Facility site. He stated the foundation work was nearly completed and the tip up wall <br />panels would be installed in the near future. He explained a large crane had been mobilized to <br />assist with this portion of the project. <br /> <br />Public Works Director Erickson stated Area I of the Street Improvement Project was wrapping <br />up and the last bit of paving would be completed at the end of July. <br /> <br />Public Works Director Erickson indicated the storm sewer repair work at County Road H2 and <br />Spring Lake Road would begin very soon. He anticipated the road would be closed for one week <br />and detour signs would be put in place. <br /> <br />Public Works Director Erickson stated he has thoroughly enjoyed working at the City of Mounds <br />View over the past two years and thanked the City Council for their support. He thanked Public <br />Works Supervisor Peterson for all of his assistance. <br /> <br />Mayor Mueller thanked Public Works Director Erickson for his service to the City and wished <br />him well in his new position with the City of Rosemount. <br /> <br />Police Chief Harder reported the New American’s Academy begins on Tuesday, July 11th. He <br />described the goals of the academy with the City Council and encouraged anyone new to the <br />country or with questions on the program to attend. He then discussed the upcoming rock wall <br />events within the community. <br /> <br />Police Chief Harder thanked Public Works Director Erickson for his service to the community, <br />his service in the Navy and for standing by his side as a department head. <br /> <br />Police Chief Harder stated he was looking forward to the National Night Out Pre-Party and <br />invited all residents to attend this kick-off event at City Hall Park which would be held on <br />Saturday, July 29th from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. He noted National Night Out would be held on <br />Tuesday, August 1st. He encouraged residents to register their National Night Out events with <br />the Mounds View Police Department. <br /> <br />Assistant City Administrator Crane discussed the positions that were vacant within the City and <br />noted staff had advertised for these openings. She offered her thanks to City staff members that <br />had stepped up to help in City Administrator Ericson’s absence. <br />
