Minutes of the Economic Development Commission City of Mounds View lr Ramsey County, Minnesota Vv Regular Meeting January 26, 1995 City Hall 2401 Highway 10, Mounds View, MN 55112 Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 6:01 p.m. 2. Roll Call: Members present were as follows: Rosemary Goff, Mark Malone, Dan Nelson, Ron Schmidt, Phil Seipp and Delane Welsch. In addition, EDA Liaison Sue Hankner, EDA alternate Gary Quick and Economic Development Coordinator Cathy Bennett were present. Member Peg Mountin is on a leave of absence. 3. Approval Of Minutes: Motion/Second: Seipp/Nelson moved approval of Minutes of EDC Meeting, December 14, 1994. 6 ayes 0 nays Motion Carried 4. Special Business A. Presentation Regarding Proposed Hotel Development Charlie Hall and Dan Hall, owners of the Mermaid Supper Club, gave an overview of their preliminary plans to build a hotel and conference center in Mounds View. Charlie Hall noted that they have been meeting with the Rice Creek Watershed District to resolve stormwater drainage issues in regards to the added bituminous surface due to the development. Mr. Hall noted that this would be their fourth expansion at that location. The proposed hotel would be six stories with a conference center on the first floor that would seat about 450-500 people banquet style. Mr. Hall will be requesting Tax Increment Financing assistance from the EDA and wanted to gain support from the EDC for the project. EDC members noted that they support the project in concept but would like to review the results of the hotel survey prior to making a formal recommendation. 5. EDC Business: A. Election of 1995 Chairperson and Vice Chairperson. Motion/Second: Welsch/Nelson moved to approve the nomination of Phil Seipp as 1995 EDC Chairperson 6 ayes 0 nays Motion Carried
