Minutes of the Economic Development Commission <br />City of Mounds View <br />lr <br />Ramsey County, Minnesota Vv <br />Regular Meeting <br />January 26, 1995 <br />City Hall <br />2401 Highway 10, Mounds View, MN 55112 <br />Call to Order: <br />The meeting was called to order at 6:01 p.m. <br />2. Roll Call: <br />Members present were as follows: Rosemary Goff, Mark Malone, Dan Nelson, Ron Schmidt, Phil Seipp <br />and Delane Welsch. In addition, EDA Liaison Sue Hankner, EDA alternate Gary Quick and Economic <br />Development Coordinator Cathy Bennett were present. Member Peg Mountin is on a leave of absence. <br />3. Approval Of Minutes: <br />Motion/Second: Seipp/Nelson moved approval of Minutes of EDC Meeting, December 14, <br />1994. <br />6 ayes 0 nays <br />Motion Carried <br />4. Special Business <br />A. Presentation Regarding Proposed Hotel Development <br />Charlie Hall and Dan Hall, owners of the Mermaid Supper Club, gave an overview of their <br />preliminary plans to build a hotel and conference center in Mounds View. Charlie Hall noted <br />that they have been meeting with the Rice Creek Watershed District to resolve stormwater <br />drainage issues in regards to the added bituminous surface due to the development. Mr. Hall <br />noted that this would be their fourth expansion at that location. The proposed hotel would be <br />six stories with a conference center on the first floor that would seat about 450-500 people <br />banquet style. Mr. Hall will be requesting Tax Increment Financing assistance from the EDA and <br />wanted to gain support from the EDC for the project. <br />EDC members noted that they support the project in concept but would like to review the <br />results of the hotel survey prior to making a formal recommendation. <br />5. EDC Business: <br />A. Election of 1995 Chairperson and Vice Chairperson. <br />Motion/Second: Welsch/Nelson moved to approve the nomination of Phil Seipp as 1995 EDC <br />Chairperson <br />6 ayes 0 nays <br />Motion Carried <br />
