The Mounds View Police Department launched several new programs in the
second quarter of 2017. The Department is rolling out our Body Worn Camera
program, has received overdose training and placed Narcan kits in all of our patrol
vehicles, and also placed "Mega Mover" drag bags in the squads to help reduce
injuries to officers and patients during lift assists. The Mounds View Police
Department answered 3416 calls for service from April through June, with our
leading crime continuing to be theft.
Bike with Police and Fire Event
On 7/13/17, the Mounds View Police was invited to bring in the rockwall to the
Ramsey County Library. We called our friends at the SBM Fire Department who
had helmets reserved for our residents and invited them to bring them to hand out.
An estimated 30 kids received new helmets or had their own helmets properly
fitted. The rockwall was a huge hit! Squad cars and fire trucks were climbed
through and thoroughly checked out. Police Chief Harder and Fire Chief Smith
read stories on bike safety and practiced their stop drop and roll! Our message for
kids is to always wear their helmets. Our officer's drive around looking to hand out
the best kind of ticket out there ... a free Dairy Queen ice cream cone ... to any kid
caught wearing their helmet.
