Public Works <br />Director DeBar recommended Mr. Backes begin at Level A, which was the first tier of the pay <br />scale. <br />Council Member Meehlhause thanked Public Works Director DeBar for his due diligence in <br />finding the best candidate for this position. <br />MOTION/SECOND: Meehlhause/Mueller. To Waive the Reading and Adopt Resolution 8120, <br />Approving the Hire of Blaine Backes as Public Works Maintenance Worker (Drinking Water) in <br />the Public Works Department. <br />Ayes — 5 Nays — 0 Motion carried. <br />E. Resolution 8116, Approving the Acceptance of Credit/Debit Cards for <br />Payment of City Charges. <br />Finance Director Beer explained in the past the Council has been reluctant to accept credit/debit <br />cards for payment on City charges. Recently, there was a lawsuit with two of the major credit <br />card carriers stating this fee could be passed along to the presenter of the card. He indicated he <br />has had conversations with the Mayor and there was now consensus among the Council for the <br />City to begin accepting credit/debit cards for payment on City charges. Staff recommended the <br />Council adopt a Resolution approving the acceptance. <br />MOTION/SECOND: Mueller/Meehlhause. To Waive the Reading and Adopt Resolution 8116, <br />Approving the Acceptance of Credit/Debit Cards for Payment of City Charges. <br />Council Member Mueller questioned if a note would be sent to residents explaining the City now <br />accepts credit/debit card payments. Finance Director Beer commented staff would be handling <br />the payments in house <br />Ayes — 5 Nays — 0 Motion carried. <br />8. CONSENT AGENDA <br />A. Set a Public Hearing for Monday, July 22, 2013, at 7:00 p.m., to Approve a <br />Temporary Liquor License or a Temporary 3.2 Malt Liquor License for the <br />Mounds View Festival in the Park Committee to Allow Max's Bar and Grill <br />to Sell Liquor During the August 17, 2013, Mounds View Festival in the <br />Park. <br />
