RESOLUTION 8072 <br />CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />APPROVING A REVISED POSITION DESCRIPTION AND AUTHORIZING <br />ADVERTISEMENT FOR REHIRING A MAINTENANCE WORKER <br />(DRINKING WATER) IN THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT <br />WHEREAS, the Public Works Department is staffed with one maintenance <br />worker who focuses primarily on the operation, maintenance, and repair of the <br />municipal drinking water distribution system, which is comprised of approximately 47 <br />miles of watermain pipe; 1,000 gate valves and 3,200 curb stops; 450 hydrants; 20 <br />miles of water service pipe (in right-of-way); and 3,200 water meters and readers; and <br />WHEREAS, the maintenance worker assigned to the drinking water subdivision <br />was reappointed to the vacant maintenance worker position in the stormwater <br />subdivision on March 11, 2013 (Res. 8071), whereby leaving the drinking water <br />maintenance worker position vacant; and <br />WHEREAS, the position description for the Maintenance Worker (Drinking <br />Water) has been revised to better define the current duties of the position; and <br />WHEREAS, City staff recommends rehiring this key position in operating and <br />maintaining the municipal drinking water distribution system to provide safe and reliable <br />drinking water to the consumers and to keep the system functioning properly and <br />maximizing the life span of its infrastructure and equipment. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of <br />Mounds View, Ramsey County, Minnesota as follows: <br />1. The attached Maintenance Worker (Drinking Water) position description is hereby <br />approved. <br />2. Staff is hereby authorized to post internally within the Public Works Department the <br />vacant maintenance position in accordance with the current Public Works Collective <br />Bargaining Unit agreement. Only after consideration of qualified internal candidates <br />will the vacant position be advertised to the public. <br />3.
