Other Planning Activity
Staff again coordinated the re -approved of the Coventry Senior Living planning cases. Coventry
is a 95 -unit senior housing building on the self -serve car wash site and two adjacent vacant lots
on the south side of County Rd 10. At this time they intend to start construction in spring 2013.
Charts & Granhs
Staff continues to attend monthly Housing Collaborative Institute
meetings. This is a housing group that was originally started with
the North Metro I -35W Corridor Coalition Housing Committee and
has continued on its own for the last several years. The Housing
Collaborative Institute (HCl) convenes monthly discussions on a
range of suburban housing related topics. The purpose of the forum
is to collaborate on issues, share talents and resources, brainstorm
on policy issues, and broaden the circle of knowledge.
The bar graph below illustrates the numbers of building permits from 2011 to 2012 by permit
type. As can be seen, while the number of re -roof permits dropped from 2011 to 2012, the
numbers of window, new construction and other miscellaneous permits increased. Overall, the
number of building permits issued in 2012 decreased from 419 to 386. The totals below do NOT
include mechanical, plumbing, fire or zoning permits. Those figures appear on the following
page.
Table 1. Building Permits. 2011 vs 2012:
200
180
160
140
120
100
80
60
40
20
0
2011 2012
Page 15
