of Mounds View Staff
Item #: 11131
Meeting Date: July 22, 2013
Type of Business: Reports
Administrator Review:
To: Honorable Mayor and City Council
From: Heidi Steinmetz, Economic Development Specialist
Item Title/Subject: Consider City Hall Sign Design Option
Background
On July 8, 2013, the City Council approved Resolution 8117, Authorizing the Purchase of
of a New Electronic Message Sign for City Hall. The new sign will replace the City's existing
electronic message sign located at the northwest corner of County Road 10 and Edgewood
Drive.
Discussion
The type of sign approved by the City Council on July 8th is a full-color 25mm Watchfire
brand electronic message sign with a stone masonry base. The City Council must now
consider and choose the design of the stone base.
Attached are three renderings provided by DeMars Signs for the City Council's
consideration. The Watchfire brand message sign will be ordered by DeMars Signs upon
the Council's direction on the base design. It will take about eight to ten weeks for the
display board to arrive and for the stone base to be installed.
Recommendation
Staff recommends that the City Council consider and choose a design for the new City Hall
electronic message sign and base.
Respectfully submitted,
Heidi Steinmetz, Economic Development Specialist
Attachments:
Design Option 1 — Curve
Design Option 2 — Angle
Design Option 3 — Classic
