POSITION DESCRIPTION <br />Position Title: Housing/Code Enforcement Inspector/Fire Marshal/Fire <br />Fighter <br />Department: Community Development <br />Accountable To: Community Development Director <br />FLSA Status: Full Time, Non -Exempt <br />PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION <br />Performs a variety of administrative and technical work in conducting inspections <br />to ensure compliance with the City's housing, nuisance, zoning, and other codes. <br />Perform comprehensive fire inspections on residential commercial and industrial <br />properties to ensure compliance with existing city and state codes and policies <br />qoverninq new construction and existing structures. a forms -fife �. <br />Sade. Responds to emergency calls as a firefighter. <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED <br />Works under the general guidance and direction of the Community Development <br />Director. <br />SUPERVISION EXERCISED <br />None. <br />ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES <br />Housing Inspections <br />• Administers the rental inspection program, including conducting annual <br />inspections of multiple swelling units and inspection of Section 8 units for <br />the Metropolitan Housing and Redevelopment Authority. Prepares letters, <br />inspection reports and court orders as needed, any may appear in court to <br />testify. <br />• Conducts inventory and an evaluation of the housing stock and <br />neighborhood condition. <br />• Investigates citizen complaints and conducts housing inspections related <br />to the City's housing maintenance ordinance and the state fire code. <br />• Works closely with outside administration of housing programs designed <br />to rehabilitate, maintain, and upgrade the City's housing stock and deal <br />with the issues of housing conditions affecting single family, multiple <br />family, and manufactured housing. <br />• Prepares ordinances which address housing issues including housing <br />maintenance and inspection. <br />
