Pete has been <br />employed by the City for 19 years (March 30, 1998). Attached is Resolution 8846, which <br />authorizes severance to Mr. Szurek in accordance with the Public Works Collective <br />Bargaining Agreement and the City's Personnel Manual. <br />Discussion <br />Articles 26 (Severance) and 27 (RHSP) of the Public Works Labor Agreement provide <br />direction concerning severance payouts. Article 26 indicates that upon separation of <br />employment with the City, the employee shall be provided severance compensation of <br />accrued and unused vacation hours and accrued compensatory time. In addition, Article <br />27 indicates that, upon separation, employees who have completed two years of service <br />and leave in good standing shall have fifty percent (50%) of unused sick deposited into <br />the employee's Retirement Health Savings Plan. Mr. Szurek resigned with 141.16 hours <br />of vacation and 203.74 hours of sick leave. There was no comp time balance. <br />The following represents severance eligible to Mr. Szurek: <br />Hours <br />Hourly rate Payout <br />Vacation Hours 141.16$28.29 <br />$ 3,993.42 Cash Payout <br />50% of Sick Leave 1101.87 <br />1 $28.29 $ 2,881.90 into RHSP <br />Total Severance: $ 6,875.32 <br />Recommendation <br />Staff recommends approval of Resolution 8846 authorizing severance to Pete Szurek <br />pursuant to the Public Works Collective Bargaining Agreement and the Mounds View <br />Personnel Manual. <br />Respectfully submitted, <br />ark Beer <br />Finance Director <br />
