Crime Prevention/DARE <br />The crime prevention officer organized a successful National Night Out this past August with <br />a total of 31 registered parties. Officer Keckeisen and numerous other Mounds View officers <br />paid personal visits to each of these parties throughout the city. <br />During the summer months, the crime prevention officer continually monitors the predatory <br />offenders registered in the city, along with tabulation of monthly alarm reports and <br />subsequent false alarm fees. The crime prevention officer conducts initial firearms and use of <br />force training for new and current officers. This officer has also been shifted to more of a <br />patrol assignment to offset some of the patrol coverage levels. <br />News from the Department <br />Officer Erickson and Niko attended the USPCA Region 12 Certification trials in St. Peter, MN. <br />The K-9 unit performed remarkably well and attained the desired PD -1 certification in the <br />areas of apprehension, article searches, narcotic searches and agility. <br />Officer <br />tification trials <br />On the first Tuesday in August, the police department staff attended 31 registered National <br />Night Out parties throughout the city. The wet weather affected some of the parties, but <br />everyone participating still had an enjoyable time. <br />
