POSITION DESCRIPTION <br />Position Title: Human Resource Coordinator <br />Department: Administration <br />Accountable To: City Administrator <br />Status: Exempt <br />PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION: <br />To develop and administer human resource activities for the City in accordance with <br />applicable policies and regulations. Works with department heads assisting and <br />coordinating human resources activities. Performs administrative functions including <br />licensing, elections, and recycling. Assists the City Administrator and other department <br />heads with special projects as required. <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED <br />Works under the guidance and direction of the City Administrator <br />SUPERVISION EXERCISED <br />None <br />ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES <br />Human Resources <br />Maintains job classification system including job descriptions, defining objective, <br />responsibilities, salary information and benchmarking. <br />Administers compensation adjustment consistent with Compensation Policy and <br />labor contracts. Prepare projected salary and benefits statements for personnel. <br />Monitors and reports Pay Equity compliance. <br />Maintains Employee Handbook, and personnel and administrative policies. <br />Interprets personnel policies and labor contracts to employees and supervisor in <br />order to provide consistency in administration of personnel programs. <br />Ensures compliance with employment law and related regulations. Conduct <br />research and prepare reports and recommendations on complex issues and <br />projects. <br />Assists with administration of benefit programs including insurances, flexible <br />spending, deferred compensation, disability and other insurance related issues <br />and programs. <br />Assists with centralized training programs. <br />Provides research and staff support for all labor relations responsibilities. <br />Develops and maintains performance appraisal system or procedures, attitude <br />surveys, recognition, suggestion and other applicable personnel programs. <br />Reviews position vacancies, coordinates advertising publications and <br />notifications for clarity and consistency in hiring requirements. <br />Reviews and scores applications to identify candidates, recommends candidates <br />for interviewing, coordinates oral interviews and administers any testing of <br />finalists. <br />Verifies references, prepares confirmation and rejections letters. <br />
