RESOLUTION NO. 8183 <br />CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />RESOLUTION APPROVING AMENDMENTS TO THE FIRE CONTRACT WITH THE <br />SPRING LAKE PARK FIRE DEPARTMENT TO FURNISH FIRE PROTECTION <br />SERVICES AND THE JOINT POWERS AGREEMENT BY AND BETWEEN THE <br />CITIES OF BLAINE, SPRING LAKE PARK AND MOUNDS VIEW <br />WHEREAS, the City of Mounds View entered into a Joint Powers Agreement (JPA) <br />with the cities of Blaine and Spring Lake Park for the provision of fire protection services on <br />December 11, 1990; and, <br />WHEREAS, the purpose of the JPA is for the Cities to cooperate in providing fire <br />protection services to its residents through the use of the Spring Lake Park Fire <br />Department "Fire Department; and, <br />WHEREAS, the JPA calls for the sharing of the costs of the operation of the Fire <br />Department between the Cities to be calculated annually pursuant to a formula which is <br />set forth as an Exhibit to the JPA; and, <br />WHEREAS, the Cities entered into an agreement with the Fire Department in 1994 <br />outlining the services from the Department relating to fire protection; and, <br />WHEREAS, as a result of negotiations between the Fire Department, the City of <br />Blaine and the Metropolitan Airports Commission (MAC), the Fire Contract is in need of <br />modification; and, <br />WHEREAS, as a result of changes in staffing within the Fire Department and <br />changes to Minnesota Statutes, technical revisions need to be made to the JPA. <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Mounds View City Council <br />approves the amendments to the Fire Contract and the JPA as outlined in the attached <br />Exhibits 1 & 2 and authorizes the Mayor and City Administrator to execute both documents <br />on behalf of the City. <br />Adopted this 9th day of December, 2013. <br />Joe Flaherty, Mayor <br />ATTEST: <br />James Ericson, City Administrator <br />(seal) <br />
