• Operate a variety of light equipment including, but not limited to, truck mowers, tractors, sprayers, <br />paint strippers, chain saws, hand tools, and other related equipment in a safe and proficient <br />manner. <br />• Perform manual labor including, but not limited to, lifting, painting, tree trimming, planting, and <br />removal; and compacting materials by using hand tools or mechanical equipment. <br />• Participate in the Public Works "Standby Duty" and "Call Back" programs for after-hours and <br />weekend maintenance, repairs, and emergencies. <br />OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES <br />• Assist and participate in illicit discharge and detection elimination (IDDE) activities, including dry <br />weather flow inspections and illegal connection investigations. <br />• Assist and participate in erosion and sediment control inspections on construction sites. <br />• Install and maintain erosion and sediment control devices for municipal -operated construction sites. <br />• Attend and participate in internal and external safety and certification training. <br />• Assist with responding to citizen requests and complaints, including investigating various matters. <br />• Perform other duties and responsibilities as apparent or assigned by the Public Works Supervisor. <br />MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS <br />Education: <br />• High School diploma or GED. <br />• Satisfactorily completion of a post -secondary program of courses in water or wastewater <br />technology at an accredited institution is desirable. <br />Experience: <br />• Six months experience in general, skilled, or semi -skilled labor performing maintenance, repair, <br />construction, or other similar job-related tasks on municipal infrastructure or operating motorized <br />equipment for these activities. One year of more experience is desirable. <br />Licenses and Certificates: <br />• Possession of a valid Minnesota Class B commercial driver's license with air brake endorsement, <br />and obtain tanker endorsement within 6 months of employment. <br />• Possession of a current Water Supply System Operator Class D certificate issued by Minnesota <br />Department of Health or obtain within 18 months of employment. <br />• Possession of a current Wastewater Operator Class S -D certificate issued by Minnesota Pollution <br />Control Agency or obtain within 18 months of employment. <br />** see Collective Bargaining Unit Labor Agreement for job classification system and minimum <br />advancement qualifications. <br />NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES <br />Knowledge of: <br />• Means, methods, and techniques for operating, maintaining, and repairing infrastructure. <br />• Equipment, materials, and supplies used in maintenance and minor repairs. <br />• Proper safety precautions related to all work performed. <br />• Safe handling and application of chemicals used in work and stored on site. <br />Skill in: <br />• Operating a variety of tools and equipment commonly used for essential duties and responsibilities. <br />Maintenance Worker (Stormwater) Position Description Page 214 <br />
