DRAFT POSITION DESCRIPTION <br />Mapping/fig & Geographic Information System <br />• Coordinates in the conversion of paper maps and tabular information into computer <br />drawings and databases. Manages both the computer records and the original hard <br />copy information so that it is accessible to all employees. <br />• Develops the City's geographic information system through data entry, coordination with <br />other departments, and overseeing consultants hired for this purpose. <br />• May provide Pr^Tes assistance to other departments by preparing maps and <br />presentation materials, collecting data and developing data base systems. <br />• Maintains the City's Asset Management data base <br />Engineering & Field Inspection <br />• Participates in obtaining field information necessary for the City to manage its <br />infrastructure, including collecting traffic counts, somata, other field data. Maintains <br />and updates as built drawings of water, sewer, storm sewer and other systems. <br />• Assists with inspection of public works projects by measuring work completed, <br />documenting conditions and procedures of work, and insuring compliance with plans and <br />specifications. <br />• Maintains records and enters data necessary for the pavement management system, <br />and for obtaining MSA funding for road improvements. <br />• Coordinate activities and attend meetings related to capital improvements and infrastructure <br />projects of other government agencies that affect City infrastructure, operations, and other <br />interests. <br />PERIPHERAL DUTIES <br />• Provides information to the public on a variety of topics including <br />wetland maps, map resources in general, city infrastructure, grading and <br />drainage issues, and public works projects and development projects. <br />• Performs other duties as assigned by the Public Works Director. <br />• Assist and participate in development of the Capital Improvement Program (CIP) <br />MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS <br />Education and Experience: <br />{A3 Four year degree in !S/IT c)r related field, or equivaleRt GE)mbinatic)R Gf eduGatiGn and <br />years of networking expeFien-e ' <br />(B) Two year associates degree from an accredited community college or technical school in <br />riVil enginee4R Geography & GIS with a GIS Professional Certificate or equivalent <br />combination of education and experience in a related field. <br />(C) Two years of experience using AutoCAD, ARCCAD and ARCVIEW, or equivalent, <br />drafting, map reading, computer entry, construction inspection, surveying, plan and <br />permit review. <br />
