DRAFT POSITION DESCRIPTION
<br />Perform other duties and responsibilities as apparent or assigned by the DiFeGter E) Public Works
<br />Director /City F.Rgineer.
<br />Provides information to the public on a variety of topics including wetland maps, map
<br />resources in general, city infrastructure, grading and drainage issues, and public works
<br />projects and development projects.
<br />MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
<br />Education and Experience:
<br />• Bachelor's Ass.>esiate's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in
<br />Construction Management, Civil Engineering Technology, or other closely related field and four
<br />years of experience working in the design, construction, or management of public works
<br />infrastructure/facilities and capital improvements; or any equivalent combination of education and
<br />experience.
<br />• Experience using AutoCAD, ARCCAD and ARCVIEW, or equivalent, drafting, map
<br />reading, computer entry, construction inspection, surveying, plan and permit review.
<br />Licenses and Certificates:
<br />• Possess a valid Minnesota Class D driver's license or equivalent.
<br />• Storm Water — Construction Installer Certificate or ability to obtain
<br />• Storm Water -Construction Site Management Certificate or the ability to obtain
<br />• Strom Water — Permanent Best Management Practice Maintenance or the ability to obtain
<br />NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
<br />Knowledge of:
<br />• Basic principles and practices of project management, construction administration, and public
<br />works/facilities design and construction.
<br />• Applicable federal, state, and local laws, codes, rules, regulations, and design standards.
<br />Skill in:
<br />• Establishing and maintaining cooperative human relations with those contacted in the course of
<br />work, including co-workers, consultants, contractors, regulators, vendors, and the public.
<br />• Reading, interpreting, and comprehending a variety of engineering, architectural, and other
<br />technical documents including drawings, specifications, maps, schematics, product data, shop
<br />drawings, and design standards.
<br />• Preparing clear and concise project correspondences directed to wide variety of audiences,
<br />individuals and groups.
<br />• Organizing resources and establishing priorities for work assignments.
<br />• Keeping and managing accurate records of project costs, schedules, inspections, and other
<br />documentation in hard copy and electronic formats.
<br />• Proficient use of computers and general software programs; experience with Microsoft Office
<br />Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) required; and Microsoft Project and Adobe Acrobat preferred.
<br />• Assessing in -field conditions and problems and determining workable solutions to resolve them.
