FOUNDING EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, MINNESOTA RURAL PARTNERS 1995-2004 <br />Minnesota Rural Partners is the state's rural development council with representation from the federal, <br />state, local, tribal, private, non-profit and the educational sector, focusing attention on rural communities <br />and issues through an annual rural summit, legislative initiatives, and several collaborative projects. Built <br />the Partnership from a single staffed, $100,000/year budget to a staff of six and a budget reaching a <br />million dollars annually. <br />TRUSTEE, THE BLANDIN FOUNDATION 1994-2006 <br />The Blandin Foundation is the largest Minnesota-based foundation with a single focus on rural. Served <br />on several committees including housing, economic development and policy, as well as positions on the <br />National Council on Foundations. <br />CO-OWNER, BIRCH COULEE POTTERY 1984-2005 <br />Birch Coulee Pottery, a rural family owned small business produced functional stoneware for over <br />20 years. Specific responsibilities included business development, marketing and financial management. <br />COMMISSIONER, RENVILLE COUNTY <br />1991-1994 <br />Renville County is an agricultural based county with population of 17,000 and a 24 million dollar annual <br />budget. Elected by and represented the people of Renville County on numerous local, state and national <br />boards, with particular interests in the environment, human service and rural development. Provided <br />leadership in long-range planning for county goals, operations and budget management. <br />PROJECT DIRECTOR, REDWOOD -COTTONWOOD RIVERS CONTROL AREA 1988-1991 <br />Redwood -Cottonwood Rivers Control Area is a local, non -regulatory joint -powers board working to <br />enhance and protect the rivers of Southwest Minnesota.
