Mounds View City Council November 27, 2017 <br />Regular Meeting Page 8 <br />1 Council Member Meehlhause stated he would be attending the Met Council/League of <br />2 Minnesota Cities meeting on Wednesday, November 29th. He reported he had an NYFS <br />3 Executive Committee meeting on Thursday, November 30th <br />4 <br />5 Council Member Meehlhause encouraged the community to attend the Lions Breakfast with <br />6 Santa on Sunday, December 3rd from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Edgewood Middle School. He <br />7 noted Cookies with Santa would be held at the Mounds View Community Center on Saturday, <br />8 December 2"d from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. <br />9 <br />10 Council Member Meehlhause stated the next YMCA Advisory Committee meeting would be on <br />11 Monday, December 4th, <br />12 <br />13 Council Member Meehlhause reported on Saturday, December 2"d long-time Mounds View <br />14 Resident Don "Mr. Mounds View" Hodges would be celebrating his 901h birthday. He provided <br />15 further comment on the large number of activities that Mr. Hodges participated in and wished <br />16 Don a very Happy Birthday. A round of applause was offered by all in attendance. <br />17 <br />18 Council Member Bergeron wished Don Hodges a Happy Birthday as well and agreed he was <br />19 "Mr. Mounds View". <br />20 <br />21 Council Member Bergeron requested the Council consider supporting a Resolution that would <br />22 allow students to participate and serve on the City's commissions during their junior or senior <br />23 year. He believed it would greatly benefit the City to allow students to serve in this capacity. <br />24 <br />25 Mayor Mueller asked if the Council supported discussing this further on Monday, January 2"d at <br />26 their worksession meeting. The Council supported this recommendation. <br />27 <br />28 Council Member Meehlhause stated this was a great way to get youth interested in governmental <br />29 service. <br />30 <br />31 Council Member Gunn reported the I -35W Coalition met recently and the group discussed why <br />32 fees were still being collected. She explained there was a need to collect dues to address Phase II <br />33 of the upcoming project. <br />34 <br />35 Mayor Mueller provided the Council with a chart she received at a recent meeting on <br />36 parliamentary procedures. <br />37 <br />38 Mayor Mueller thanked all Mounds View residents who had holiday lights on display and those <br />39 performing acts of goodwill, which included a donation to the Ralph Reeder Food Shelf. She <br />40 explained all donations made through December 31, 2017 would have a match from a generous <br />41 donor up to $15,000. <br />42 <br />43 Mayor Mueller wished Finance Director Beer a Happy Birthday. <br />44 <br />
