Item No: 9.0 & D.
M0UNDS VfE-W
Meeting Date: January 22, 2018
Type of Business: Council Business
Administrator Review: 4%%
City of Mounds View Staff Report
To: Honorable Mayor and City Council
From: Nyle Zikmund, City Administrator
Item Title/Subject: Resolution 8899 and 8900 Expressing Appreciation to the
City of Blaine and City of Spring Lake Park for assistance
during construction of Mounds View Public Works Facility
Introduction:
The construction of the new public works facility required demolition and removal of the
prior structure resulting in the City of Mounds View needing storage space for a larger
number of the Public Works Fleet.
Discussion:
Public Works Supervisor/Acting Public Works Director/Now Public Works Director
Peterson reached out to his counterparts in Blaine and Spring Lake Park to inquire as to
their ability to aid in storage of our equipment. Both readily agreed and demonstrated
exceptional hospitality; especially as cold weather impacted those units with diesel
engines. The equipment bay portion of the building is complete and we moved our
equipment back from those two cities the week of January 15t". Council expressed a
desire to adopt resolutions of appreciation at their January 8, 2018 Council meeting
when it was reported the equipment would be coming home, thus now that has occurred
it is the appropriate time. Director Peterson also plans on holding an open house
specific for those Public Works department members to come over and view the new
facility.
Recommendation:
Approve Resolutions 8899 and 8900 and direct Administrator Zikmund to coordinate with
recipients and council on presenting to the two respective cities.
Respectfully submitted,
mVrfd, City Administrator
