Mounds View City Council January 22, 2018 <br />Regular Meeting Page 7 <br /> <br /> <br />Mayor Mueller thanked the cities of Blaine and Spring Lake Park for their great partnerships with <br />the City. <br /> <br /> Ayes – 4 Nays – 0 Motion carried. <br /> <br />E. Resolution 8902, Appointing Chris Atkinson as Lead Worker Parks Division <br />and Bruce Meehan as Lead Worker Streets Division. <br /> <br />City Administrator Zikmund requested the Council appoint Chris Atkinson as Lead Worker <br />Parks Division and Bruce Meehan to the position of Lead Worker Streets Division. He indicated <br />there was some sense of urgency to this matter which was why this item was placed on the <br />agenda for approval. He explained that because only one person applied for each position <br />interviews were not necessary and the Council could make a recommendation on the positions. <br /> <br />Public Works Director Peterson reported he met with Human Resources Technician Ewald to <br />discuss these appointments and noted both individuals were qualified for the lead positions. He <br />noted both candidates would be on a six-month probation period and would undergo leadership <br />training. He explained he would like to have these lead candidates in place in order to assist with <br />the upcoming Public Works Supervisor interviews. <br /> <br />Mayor Mueller asked if the City had another lead position within Public Works. Public Works <br />Director Peterson reported the City also had a lead water person and noted this position has been <br />in place for the past 20 years. <br /> <br />MOTION/SECOND: Meehlhause/Mueller. To Waive the Reading and Adopt Resolution 8902, <br />Appointing Chris Atkinson as Lead Worker Parks Division and Bruce Meehan as Lead Worker <br />Streets Division. <br /> <br />Mayor Mueller congratulated Chris Atkinson and Bruce Meehan on their new positions. <br /> <br /> Ayes – 4 Nays – 0 Motion carried. <br /> <br />10. REPORTS <br />A. Reports of Mayor and Council. <br /> <br />Council Member Gunn stated she would be attending the Anoka County Fire Protection Council <br />meeting on Thursday, January 25th. <br /> <br />Council Member Gunn noted she had the opportunity to attend a meeting with a group of <br />residents that were having problems with missing mail and other suspicious activities. She noted <br />Officer Schultes was in attendance at this meeting to discuss a potential Neighborhood Watch <br />group. She encouraged other residents to consider creating a Neighborhood Watch group as this <br />was a good way to keep in touch with neighbors. Those interested in pursuing this further were <br />encouraged to contact Officer Schultes.
