Mounds View City Council January 22, 2018 <br />Regular Meeting Page 8 <br /> <br /> <br />Council Member Meehlhause reported the YMCA Advisory Committee met on Monday, January <br />22nd where the group received an update on Youth in Government. He stated six representatives <br />from Mounds View were elected to Youth in Government positions. He discussed the program <br />revenue received by the YMCA in 2017. He described the revenue share program in place <br />between the City and the YMCA and noted the City would be receiving just over $45,000. He <br />was pleased to report that good things were happening at the Community Center. <br /> <br />Council Member Meehlhause stated he would be attending a Northeast Youth and Family <br />Services meeting on Thursday, January 25th. <br /> <br />Council Member Meehlhause reported he would be attending League of Minnesota Training on <br />Friday and Saturday of this week. <br /> <br />Council Member Meehlhause encouraged all Mounds View residents to come out to Lambert <br />Park on Friday, January 26th at 5:30 p.m. for the Police versus Fire hockey game. He noted the <br />event would have food, merchandise and a live auction. He explained all proceeds from the <br />event would benefit the Mounds View Police Foundation. <br /> <br />Mayor Mueller reported the 2nd Annual Daddy Daughter Dance would be held on Saturday, <br />February 24th from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Mounds View Community Center. <br /> <br />Mayor Mueller stated she met with four youth working towards their Citizenship in the <br />Community Merit Badge. As a result of their hard work, these individuals would be attending <br />the February 12th City Council meeting and will be leading the City Council in the Pledge of <br />Allegiance. <br /> <br />Mayor Mueller noted she would be attending the League of Minnesota Cities training on Friday <br />and Saturday of this week as well. <br /> <br />Mayor Mueller stated the Five Cities Mayors meeting was canceled for Monday, February 22nd <br />due to the road conditions. She indicated this meeting would be rescheduled. <br /> <br />Mayor Mueller reported the Ramsey County League of Local Government would be meeting <br />next in February. <br /> <br />Mayor Mueller stated she received a letter from a student, Keaton, at the Champlin-Brooklyn <br />Park Academy for Math and Environmental Science. She explained that this student’s teacher <br />had challenged her third-grade class to write a letter to their Mayor identifying a problem in the <br />community, along with a solution to the problem. She stated in this letter Keaton has noted he <br />has no parks in his neighborhood and has requested the City Council build more parks. Mayor <br />Mueller noted she would be sending a letter in response to Keaton identifying the City’s ten <br />parks, along with the remodeling plan for City Hall Park. <br />
