Mr. Egan supported this recommendation. <br /> <br />AMENDMENT: Bergeron/Gunn. To Amend the Ordinance to read that persons engaged in <br />target shooting at inanimate objects be within an enclosed structure that is sound proof to prevent <br />the sound exceeding State Statute and that any projectiles are contained within the enclosed <br />structure. <br /> <br />City Attorney Riggs requested he be allowed latitude to review this further and report back to the <br />City Council. The Council supported staff having this latitude. <br /> <br />City Planner/Supervisor asked if it was the Council’s intent to allow a residential shooting range. <br />Council Member Bergeron stated this should not be allowed. City Attorney Riggs commented he <br />would review the language to ensure gun ranges were only allowed on commercially zoned <br />properties. <br /> <br /> Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Amendment carried. <br /> <br />AMENDMENT: Bergeron/Gunn. To Amend the Ordinance allowing people, as an exception, to <br />fire at a City Council approved gun range consistent with City Ordinances as well as State and <br />Federal gun laws and regulations. <br /> <br />Council Member Bergeron explained this language was very similar to that found in the City <br />Codes for Chanhassen, Stillwater and Princeton. <br /> <br />Mayor Mueller asked if the Council had to find a location for this addition. City Administrator <br />Zikmund recommended the City Attorney find the proper location for this addition. <br /> <br />Council Member Meehlhause recommended this language be added to the beginning of Item 7, <br />the shooting of firearms is prohibited. <br /> <br />Council Member Bergeron stated he was deferring this matter to the City Attorney. City <br />Attorney Riggs reported he would review the Code and make amendments as directed by the City <br />Council. <br /> <br />Mayor Mueller commented that this portion of City Code needed to be reviewed by the Council <br />as it was not compliant with State Statute. City Attorney Riggs reported this was the case. <br /> <br /> Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Amendment carried. <br /> <br />MOTION/SECOND: Gunn/Hull. To Waive the First Reading and Introduce Ordinance 939, <br />Amending Municipal Code, Section 702.01, Subd 13(b), regarding Possession, Aiming or <br />Discharging of Weapons as amended.
