Mounds View City Council November 23, 2015 <br />Regular Meeting Page 8 <br /> <br /> 1 <br />Council Member Hull commented he was at Aldi’s two weeks ago where the Mounds View 2 <br />Police Department was accepting donations for the local food shelf. He thanked the public for 3 <br />the great turnout at this event. 4 <br /> 5 <br />Council Member Mueller indicated the Ramsey County League of Local Government Annual 6 <br />Meeting would be held on Thursday, December 3rd in Maplewood at Keller Club House at 5:30 7 <br />p.m. 8 <br /> 9 <br />Council Member Mueller reported she missed the Festival in the Park meeting last Tuesday, 10 <br />November 17th. She reviewed the items that were discussed by the group and looked forward to 11 <br />attending the January 19th meeting. She noted the 2016 Festival in the Park event would be held 12 <br />on Saturday, August 20th. Those interested in assisting with the event were encouraged to attend 13 <br />the monthly meetings. 14 <br /> 15 <br />Council Member Mueller discussed the draft 2016 City Polices document she received from the 16 <br />League of Minnesota Cities. She believed the League of Minnesota Cities was a strong voice at 17 <br />the legislature. She commented on how the State was considering adjusting axle weight limits 18 <br />for semi-trucks. 19 <br /> 20 <br />Council Member Gunn stated the I-35W Coalition met last Thursday. The group was reviewing 21 <br />the proper placement for sound walls along I-35W. She indicated the group also elected officers 22 <br />and noted she was elected President of the Coalition. 23 <br /> 24 <br />Council Member Meehlhause wished all City staff and the residents of Mounds View a Happy 25 <br />Thanksgiving. 26 <br /> 27 <br />Council Member Meehlhause reported the Mounds View Lions would be sponsoring an all you 28 <br />can eat Waffle Breakfast at Edgewood Middle School on Sunday, December 6th from 9:00 a.m. to 29 <br />1:00 p.m. The cost for the event was $8 for adults, $5 for children ages 6 to 12 and $1 for 30 <br />children five and under. 31 <br /> 32 <br />Council Member Meehlhause explained on Tuesday, November 23, 1915, William Roy 33 <br />Hotchkiss opened a small print shop on the second floor of the People’s Bank building in 34 <br />downtown St. Paul, Minnesota. He discussed how this print shop became Deluxe Check Printers 35 <br />and wished this company a Happy 100th Anniversary. He indicated Deluxe Corporation was a 36 <br />vibrant and viable company that was still headquartered in Shoreview, Minnesota. 37 <br /> 38 <br /> B. Reports of Staff. 39 <br />1. Police Department 3rd Quarter Report 40 <br /> 41 <br />Police Chief Kinney reviewed the Police Department’s Third Quarter Report with the City 42 <br />Council. He provided highlights of events that occurred over the past three months, noting 43 <br />arrests of adults were down from the previous year. He indicated all other calls for service were 44
